I replaced the stock japanese ROM on my C1000 with r121, and I've had a few problems with it. Mainly quirks like keyboard mapping, right mouse clicks and so on (which have been more or less dealt with in this forum) but also several other issues:
-Sometimes, when booting, some garbage (looks like code lines instead of normal boot messages) appears before the login prompt. Is it normal?
-Now I also get a message on bootup saying:
...
Freeing init memory: 80K
JFFS2 warning: (1) jffs2_sum_write_sumnode: Not enough space for summary, padsize = -1016
INIT: version 2.86 booting
JFFS2 notice: (183) check_node_data: wrong data CRC in data node at 0x0443d800: read 0xe4b222bf, calculated 0x33cc0d8.
Starting udev daemon: [ OK ]
...
This happens on every reboot, no matter if no SD card is inserted, since this morning Yesterday it didn't happen. Do I have to worry?
-I figured I should have tried beta3 instead of r121, looks like it's more stable and less 'quirky'. I'd try to downgrade to beta3, but now that I have that u-boot thing, I'm not sure how. Do I have to remove u-boot? Do I have to do repartitioning to install beta3? A few pointers would be greatly appreciated. I have a NAND backup of the stock Japanese ROM, if that helps.
-I can't connect to the pdaxrom.org site, not only from the Zaurus, but from any computer. Is the site down?
-
my solutio (your mileage may vary) is to do a NAND restore from the appropriate image at trisoft.de; boot; shutdown; flash beta3--doing the nand resize stuffi - then doing all the stuff on Loji's site (search for Loji on the forum and you"ll find a link) load a ton o stuff from the feeds and be on my merry way.
And; yes; though 2.6 is ultimately the way to go; right now Beta3 (2.4 kernel) will give you less headaches

Thanks a lot adf, Loji's site was of great help. I have now Beta3 installed, up and running
However, I still can't access neither www.pdaxrom org nor mail.pdaxrom.org. I had a copy of the beta3 install package by sheer luck, I downloaded it a couple of days ago, but today I can't install anything from the official or contrib feeds.
Is there a mirror of the main feed for beta3? Do you recommend another feed?
Thanks!

This is the "officialish" feed that I use.

If pdaXrom was down, I assume it will be back up. I always get my images from there (and genrally keep a copy too). unfortunate about mail.pdaxrom.org. The contrib feeds a re pretty important--hopefully the link at spy.org has most of what you need

Thanks again, that mirror worked. And it seems pdaxrom.org is up again

I've had the same problem with the pdaXrom website. It's been up and down constantly over the last several days. I'd say most of the time it's been down.
I would agree that the latest release is troublesome. Being a newbie to pdaXrom and the Zaurus SL-C1000 hasn't helped. I was able to get Cacko running, but I want something that works more like a mini-laptop so I'm going to keep trying to get pdaXrom going.
