Is there a Card identifier for Windows, Linux, or the Zaurus that reveals the "true" manafacturer of SD & CF cards?
For CD-ROMs and DVDs there are identification programs that list every specific detail about the CD/DVD.
One is "CD/DVD Identifier". I'm looking for such a program that identifies CF/SD cards in the same detail.
Also these CD/DVD identifiers give the speed rating on the optical discs.
I haven't seen any CF/SD identification that lists the speed rating.
My Palm Zire 72 has a program called CardInfo. This identifies SD cards.
Below is it's output compared to Qtopia SysInfo - Device tab:
--------------------------------------
PNY 1GB SD card (No speed rating on label)
Palm Zire 72
Palm Card Identifier, "CardInfo"
SD01G
Toshiba
Secure Digital Card
Device ID: SD01G_9281BC6B150A07
-----------------------
Zaurus SL-C3100
Sysinfo - Devices tab
SD01G
Toshiba
Serial # 2457975915
--------------------------------------
I cannot put my CF cards in my Palm Zire 72, but want to know the "true" manafacturer of such cards.
PNY 1GB CF card (No speed rating on label)
-----------------------
Zaurus SL-C3100
Qtopia SysInfo - Device tab
Product info: TOSHIBA THNCF1G02QG ", "", "", ""
-----------------------
Yesterday, after I first got these PNY 1GB CF cards, they were identified in Qtopia SysInfo as:
Product info:" "KTC" , "CF Card"
What gives?
Although the assumed "Brand" name changed on this card from yesterday to today, I'm very pleased to see, "TOSHIBA" instead of "KTC"

Many cards are rebranded very often. I had few CF 256M Kingston cards - some were Hitachi, some Toshibas..

When you purchase a newly released CD/DVD burner, most people that follow "That" industry, tell you to identify your media before purchasing it, because some burners don't like certain brands of media, or manufacturer.
Where is such a program to identify CF/SD cards with that much detail?
