I have tried the following:
1) mplayer
2) xmms
3) vlc
4) xmms +xmms-mad +xmms-tremor
I use firefox and go to shoutcast and click on the link. mplayer does nothing or pukes firefox. xmms (plus or minus the additional plugins) displays the title/ip address and does nothing. vlc seems to be working, but I get no sound. I can play the ogg vorbis and theora streams from icecast just fine. I have read all of the posts reference streaming, but can't find the answer. Can anyone put me on the right track. streamtuner and streamripper would be *awesome* for the Z. If you haven't tried them, you should check them out. I use them with Amarok on my linux box. I am encouraging the Amarok developers to incorporate the ST/SR code into Amarok. It would be a heck of a lot more useful to me than MagnaTune (for example). Thanks for any assistance.

Streamtuner works fine on pdaxrom except for live365.

Awesome, where is the ipk available for download? **UPDATE** found it at:
[a href=\"http://www.hermocom.com/feeds/pdaxrom1.1.0beta3/]http://www.hermocom.com/feeds/pdaxrom1.1.0beta3/[/url]
I imagine that the mp3 streams still won't work for me until I figure out what I am missing or what is not or mis-configured. **UPDATE** The mplayer command lines work like a champ. The only downside so far is that the only way I can stop mplayer is to hit Cntl-C in the rxvt window. When I click the live365 tab, no streams show up. They have changed their site around, so maybe they broke some code in this version. My kubuntu version still works.

Yes, live365 seems to change their format from time in time. On my desktop it also quit working once and I had to patch it. Possibly the version which we have is still lacking this patch.

Neither Shoutcast nor Live365 is working for me but the Xiph stations work great- anybody else not get any Shoutcast listings?
Is it not possible to listen to a stream at the same time as ripping it?

I think so. Streamripper seems to be working. Unfortunately, I can't find any way to stop mplayer or streamripper other than Cntl-C. Will have to do some looking for keyboard commands.

I am trying to script the command lines that work in streamtuner to see if I can use them with firefox to play from the browser. In streamtuner, the following command lines work:
m3u - 'rxvt -e mplayer -playlist %q'
pls - 'rxvt -e mplayer %q'
I know that the %q is a local variable for streamtuner. What is the correct way to script those commands. I tried creating the following:
/mnt/ide2/usr/bin/m3uplay.sh (ide2 is my ext2 partition of my md where I install progs)
rxvt -e mplayer -playlist
and a similar one called plsplay. I have tried permutations using single quotes around the command line, adding %1, etc. but no joy. I am sure that I am missing something simple, but I can figure it out. Help.

I remember remotely that I hade to install some library to get shoutcast working.
Can you please start streamtuner from the terminal and paste me the lines which you get when you try to use shoutcast? Perhaps this can refresh my memory ;-)

I found today that live365 wasn't working on my kubuntu box either. I had a directory (with hosed genres) and I tried to play. I got a message telling me I needed to login, so I created an account and added the information to the plugin under streamtuner. Then, I made the mistake of refreshing the stream listing. Got a blank. So, I went to the streamtuner homepage and they have a note stating that they are aware of the problem and working on a fix. So, if you have a directory listing, either input your account info into the plug-in preferences or sign up for an account. Don't refresh you directory listing. I think they will play. I got to the site before I did a refresh and got the pre-recorded message telling me to login.
