Post by: Meanie on January 07, 2007, 09:50:12 pm
Has anyone been able to compile scim-anthy? Last time I tried to compile it on my Z, it corrupted my fiilesystem badly. scim is in the pdaXrom feed and so is scim-pinyin, but no scim-anthy

Hi Meanie,

I've tried it, the recognition speed is slow (or my configuration is not optimized?), and the accuracy is poor (the script must be neat)...
but I think it is a good start.

Wells.

Hi, sorry to ask a dumb question... how do you select Anthy ? I installed the scim-anthy package from your feed but when I looked under Japanese under SCIM's selection menu I can't see it. SCIM config shows it under the IMEngine section.

I had checked the develop mail list of tomoe.

tomoe 0.6 is a very beginning chinese hadwriting.
Someone tested it on Nokia 770, and provided a patch for efficiency. He use a binary file to replace Chinese XML data file, the loading time and searching time should be shorted to 25%.
The developers of tomoe are working on a new algorithm, and it may release after two month. The new algorithm may change data structure much.

Float operation may be problem of efficiency also.

tomoe 0.6 should be great begin, and be continue ....

well, i tried it but no matter what I write, it does not seem to be able to recognize it
maybe my hand writing is just too ugly for it to work...

Hi ecc_hy & Meanie,

I've compiled binary backend version of tomoe-0.6.0, the file size of charmap is decreased from 8M to 900K, but the speed still sucks ( tiny improved )...
You may try it :

thanks! this one at least works for me.

btw, you can strip the libraries and modules to make the package smaller...
