Title: Essid Not Visible
Post by: Darth_Sith on January 09, 2007, 02:18:47 pm
I can connect over WiFi without problem, it's automatic, but I can see ESSID.
It's a bug?
Can be resolved?

Thx.

What are you using to search for ssid's?

I tried kismetqt 2, but it can find the driver of my dlink, and don't work.
So I tried the bundle in cacko, wirless monitor, that give me all (mac, signal..) but not ssid.
Another question: can I remove the original package? For example video player? And there is a version of mplayer that play wmv with video?

Thx for help.

WMV support is not too great on Linux in general.  As I recall Mplayer is only supporting rather old WMV file format on the Zaurus (WMV1/2).  Because Mplayer uses x86 win32 binaries for decoding the files of WMV3 files (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/info.html).  I don't think these will work on a Zaurus, ever.  Also, there has not been a newer revision of mplayer for zaurus (http://atty.skr.jp/pub/zaurus/mplayer/) released than what is in found in the Cacko 1.23 ROM (1.1.5).  So, there is nothing to upgrade to sadly...

EDIT:  Oh, and if you want to be able to install and remove software like Kino2 you should use the Cacko-lite ROM and then install your packages on top of that.  The down side is that it will take more flash space to do this.  When the software is built into the ROM image it uses a compressed read-only file system to save space.

Usually if the ssid isn't being broadcast they don't want you to connect.

Try wellenreiter.  It works good too.  The wireless monitor app gives good stats once connected.
