Tried the ipk from here - gpe-contacts (http://www.tyrannozaurus.com/feed/beta3/custom/gpe-contacts_0.46_armv5tel.ipk) but it does not open and gives an error message in console that it can't find libeventdb.so.0. I tried uninstalling my libeventdb_0.30.050606_armv5tel.ipk and reinstalling it but still did not work.
I went back to old version of gpe-contacts gpe-contacts_0.44.050605_armv5tel.ipk and at least it opens up - just goes "poof" when clicking on the "import" button.
Meanie, thanks for trying! You are a one-man-band.

HI
i've just tried under pdaxii13 : it does launch!
however importing a vcf contact ends up with "failed : attribute URL defined twice" ...
and importing a ldif file (exported from firefox) : "failed : syntax error" ...
EDIT: importing the same ldif file succeed in sylpheed addressbook! so i'm happy for now

I just figured it out.
you have to:
ln -s /usr/lib/libeventdb.so.1.0.0 /usr/lib/libeventdb.so.0

oh well, giving an error is an improvement over the original version which just crashes...
btw, is the crash with the latest libxml and libxslt from my custom feed or the original and older libxml and libxslt from the default beta3/beta1 feeds?

I uninstalled gpe-contacts - will install it again tomorrow.
I have libxml2.so.2.6.13 and the other libxmls symlink to it. Don't seem to have a libxslt in /usr/lib/ .
Yes, that's a BIG improvement that it opens up. I think probably the import is too complex to tackle and spend time on. I got Ka/Pi to work fine and was able to import addresses into it by a .csv file. Have to put in all your categories and headings into a blank file first and then import the .csv.

I imported all my contacts into gpe-contacts from kopi, but I'll be darned if I can remember how I did it.
hmmmm...
I think I actually used a sqllite tool, now that I think about it.
