Hey,
SMPlayer sure is a nice GUI for mplayer.
...but how do you stop the video once it's started playing?
pressing space and "p" pauses but cancel does nothing.
When I start a video I'm stuck in full screen mode until I ssh into the zaurus and kill mplayer.
I must be missing something simple.
-
I had to shut down X, by using ctrl+alt+bkspace
or let the movie play it's course.
I think I found another key combo, but locked my Z once trying this and had to reset the switch in the battery compartment
BTW, I have a lot of really bad, zaurus incompatible movies...
EDIT: (again)
There are 2 logs you can save under the options menu.
You have to move the dialog to the bottom to access the save button.
The smplayer log shows some keyboard shortcuts, but some are only windows keyboard shortcuts.
BTW, these logs are deleted once you exit smplayer.
EDIT2:
The stop shortcut is mapped to a "media stop" key according to the log
pause is mapped to "space"

Thanks for the quick reply Jon_J.
Ya, I saw that shortcut, but don't have any what the "Media stop" relates to on the Zaurus or how to do an xmodmap change to get it. *shrug*. Greater minds than mine might have the answer.
EDIT: I did this search: [a href=\"http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=%2B%22media+stop+key%22+%2Blinux&btnG=Search&meta=]http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=%2B%22...nG=Search&meta=[/url]
and it looks like people are trying to find support for the media stop key.
-
I think "Media Stop" is a [key] on a newer windows keyboard.
There are other windows only refrences in options
I wanted to paste that log in here, but it's in an unusual format, not utf8.
open smplayer, and don't load any movies, then look at options>log>smplayer log
EDIT: I just found a key to stop it from playing. ctrl+x Exits smplayer

I will build smplayer again and add some extra keymappings so it is easier to use on the Z

Thanks dude.

remapped the S key and the Enter key to stop, but it just doesn't want to work
however, at least the screen refreshes after the movie finishes playing. mplayer still has the same bug as the previous version so I had to make smplayer call xrandr to do the refresh...

Hi Meanie,
The author of smplayer accepted a suggestion from me and modified it so it can be used as a graphical client for Streamtuner. See the new sources 0.1.18 on http://www.escomposlinux.org/rvm/temp/SMP/ (http://www.escomposlinux.org/rvm/temp/SMP/)
(the sourceforge shell server has problems, so he cannot upload it to the sourceforge.net project page).
I just tried to compile it using your
zgcc-3.4.6.squashfs 22-Dec-2006 09:20 21.2M
from http://zaurus.daemons.gr/menaie/pdaxrom/ (http://zaurus.daemons.gr/menaie/pdaxrom/)
Two questions:
1. Offtopic: On Tyrannozaurus you announced a new version to be uploaded on Feb 7 2007. Did you upload it? If so, where can we find it?
2. smplayer: When trying to compile with your 3.4.6 image: qmake works.
make raises the eror message:
helper.cpp:34: error: 'QThread' has not been declared
This is strange. in the Makefile I see that INCPATH contains the path to qthread.h in your zgcc image.
Do you have an idea about this?
Thanks a lot
daniel

Hi Meanie,
and another problem:
uic in your 3.4.6 image seems to be linked against libqt.so.3, not libqt-mt, so it complains and isn't executed. I copied over uic and moc from the old 3.4.5 image, and these binaries can be executed. However, still the QThread error.
Any ideas? Is there a newer zgcc 3.4.6 image with libqt-mt binaries?
Thanks!

THANK YOU!
In the meantime, I also sorted out the compilation problems.
The one with libqt.so.3 was solved by an
ln -s /usr/lib/qt/lib/libqt-mt.so.3 /usr/lib/qt/lib/libqt.so.3
And the missing QThread class was due to the define QT_THREAD_SUPPORT not being set. Adding the flag -DQT_THREAD_SUPPORT to CFLAGS and CXXFLAGS in the Makefile of smplayer solved the problem.
Nevertheless I'd still be interested in Meanie's newer zgcc image.
Now smplayer is still compiling on my zaurus. In parallel installed your package and it works nicely.
When I'm at home I'll have to test the streamtuner client capability of the new smplayer version.

Okay... on the build page there are two zgcc-3.4.6.squashfs links. One being build 5.2 and on labeled "latest". However, the latest is smaller. Is latest = newest?
The fact that latest is smaller makes me doubt it.
Thanks

Hi everyone. I've had my C1000 for about a year now, but have been using cacko until recently. I'm now running beta 3 and loving it. Everything works great except for smplayer/mplayer/oss mixer. The problem is that whenever mplayer is using the -ao ss extension (as indicated by http://www.thesounddesign.com/zaurus/beta3.htm) (http://www.thesounddesign.com/zaurus/beta3.htm)) the sound doesn't work. Video runs choppy without it, so the simple solution of not using -ao ss isn't feasable. I'm running mplayer-bvdd-iwmmxt 1.1.5-1, but the problem happens on multple versions. When I run mixmos, it returns that it cannot open the mixer device. Please help. Let me know what you need and I'll get it. Thanks for the help :-)

I resolved this... turns out -ao ss is a typo for -ao oss (makes sense now). I also changed the audio driver from mad to oss in smplayer. Now all is right with the world. I did learn some things though. Live, learn, and try not to break to many things along the way.
