Well, this uses a 1" drive (I just checked another, different review though: they say it's a 1.8" drive)

Anyone know if you can buy it, rip out the drive and use it in a clamshell Zaurus??
Here's a link to a hardware review of the player.

Deal is just for today, pity.

aye, I saw that at woot and was wondering the same thing. I figured it was like the ipod drives... Maybe I'm wrong

I realize I'm not answering your question (sorry).
But from what I understand it depends on if it is using a CF or IDE interface.

Some of the other players where folks did this had microdrives. AFAIK Hitachi's new 20GB microdrive is not in any players yet. I would guess that it is more likely that this has a ZIF type 1" drive similar to the one in the ipod. Getting that to work in your Z would be a significant task. I am not wealthy and would not waste $100+ unless I had a use for the music player.

Well this is my first woot buy. I am not terribly impressed. It took several days to confirm the order and a couple more to ship. It is quite clandestine. I got the card last night. I plugged it in to my z and it was not recognized. My little USB SD/MMC/etc adapter went TU so I am waiting for the replacement to arrive and then I am going to check the card using that. I am hoping that it is not formatted and that will fix it, but we shall see. More to follow...
