My c3100 is still awaiting repair (looks like I'll have to ship it off to Sharp Japan - dunno how much it'll cost but I probably won't be able to afford it right now) and we reverted my dads c3000 to cacko for three reasons
1- The pdaXii13 keyboard problem. Can people confirm the keyboard works 100% reliably in the latest release? I think I read in the changelog that Meanie fixed this in a recent release.
2 - Awaiting the next release of Ted with its improved Format menu and bug fixes
3 - Awaiting a stable, up-to-date osb-browser
According to this OS news story

osb-browser is now in sync with Safari 2.0! In the comments for that article somebody kindly provided build instructions:
Step 1:
Open a terminal and run svn co https://gtk-webcore.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/gtk-webcore (https://gtk-webcore.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/gtk-webcore) gtk-webcore
Step 2:
Go to gtk-webcore/trunk/JavaScriptCore and run autogen.sh && configure && make && make install
Step 3:
Go to gtk-webcore/trunk/NRCore and run autogen.sh && configure && make && make install
Step 4:
Go to gtk-webcore/trunk/NRCit and run autogen.sh && configure && make && make install
Step 5:
gtk-webcore/trunk/osb-browser and run autogen.sh && configure && make && make install
Step 6:
Type osb-browser to run browser.
I would really appreciate it if somebody could give this a go under pdaXii13, time how long it takes to load and give it a bit of a test for me - thanks!

Just compiled this on Ubuntu, and it looks AWESOME! I will cross-compile it now...
-
It's compiled. I'm installing and testing it now. If it's OK, I'll post it in the new packages thread.
-
I've not tried it yet but there is an alternate GUI to webcore you may want to check out
http://kazehakase.sourceforge.jp/ (http://kazehakase.sourceforge.jp/)
webcore can't replace FF on my PC yet as it lacks Flash 9 support but there is no ARM flash plug-in so as soon as kazehakase or osb-browser stabilises I'll be running back to pdaxrom on the Z

Thanks for the tip...I'm looking at compiling a non-svn version to see if it's more stable anyway, so I may give it a try this week. It's kind of funny...Osb-browser only really crashes on the Z. On Ubuntu it's fine.

I had a crash before the first page was loaded with Xubuntu on my laptop. (P2-400-128mb). Looks promising though.

I assume by "usable" you mean the software is usable and not unstable?

its sorta usable in a way since it can render and view web pages, but its not finished yet by miles because many features aren't implemented yet...

Thanks meanie for your packages of osb browser. Here are some observations:
- Load time is very quick and the the program is very responsive unlike firefox which `thinks` everytime you click.
- Tested my website which uses quite advanced css & javascript and it renders it PERFECTLY! this made me very happy
- Main problem- seems to segfault on some pages, was unable to do a google search
- Some pages the text will not appear until you scroll down and back up effectively refreshing that section.
I'm really excited about this, even with what I have now I can do page styling and javascript on pdaxrom without the pain of using firefox! wicked!!
-
And thanks for your packages too capn! I've tried many of your ipks compiled for r121 and not had much joy so I tend to wait for the beta3 variannt
And by usable I just meant a working app that doesn't crash (unfortunately it does atm) and can be used instead of my usual browser

Installed the osb-browser and other 3 files in same group.
I needed these 3 dependencies.
libcurl
librsvg-2
libgsf
I got stuck at libgsf
I found version 1.14 and the console spits out an error saying libgsf-1.so.113 is missing. Looking inside libgsf_1.14.0_armv5tel.ipk, there are only 114 version libraries.
EDIT:
Nevermind, I found libgsf_1.13.2_armv5tel.ipk in the 1.1.0beta1-7x0-860 feed.
It's working now, but I haven't had any time to try it.
I did get this error in the console when it launched:
** (osb-browser:17790): WARNING **: NotYetImplemented: virtual BridgeImpl::windowObjectCleared()
EDIT2:
Going to try some tricks that opens local files in other browsers.
I got it to open local files by using this.
file:///path-to-file.html
EDIT3:
I especially like the zoom feature, and it word wraps pages like meanie's pdaxii13 page.
Updated screen shot

I'm really looking forward to updates on this browser.
A lot of the menu items aren't working yet, but hopefully soon, they will be.
Bookmarks would be one of the first things that needs to be implemented.
That zoom function is fantastic!
Now pdaxrom has a browser that fits a PDA like netfront, but much more.
