Title: Pretec CF WLAN Card
Post by: pavement on March 10, 2004, 11:53:53 am
I\'ve got my super new C860 and the super cacko rom, however my rubbish Pretec CF WLAN card does not appear to be working like it did on my trusty old SL5500

Has anyone else got a Pretec CF WLAN card working with their C series
and if so whats the trick to getting it working ??

Thanks

If you make it work, could you inform us?
Have the same card in my SL5500 and bought a C860.

cheers,

Add this entry to /etc/pcmcia/wlan-ng.conf file:

card \"Pretec CompactWLAN Card 802.11b\"
   manfid 0x0156, 0x0002
   bind \"prism2_cs\"

The file won't save - - permissions on the file i assume.

How do you change permissions from the konsole?

thanks

start off as-

su

then change it.

if you require your password, it is the same password as the the one you enter under the settings->security.  Otherwise, leave blank.

Cresho - thanks for the help. I actually achieved what i wanted by installing new versions of a text editor and file manager that let me start them up as root.

Had my card working for a while and now it cannot connect to any router. Mine is set to 128 bit Wep and a neighbours is open. Both fail.......

On my connection i get the error

"No connection detected

Check your WEP key settings and/or TCP/IP settings"

Needless to say i have checked the WEP and TCP settings

any ideas?
