A very simplistic question to help all the "geniuses" of this list have some rest :
When I connect my Z860 to my PC via USB, I have an error msg saying "USB peripheral not recognised".
Is there a driver so set on my PC (Win XP) or is it a symptom of hardware failure ...?
If it's a driver missing, is there a place on Internet where I could find it ?
NB : my goal would be to make this run under another ROM, but I came back to Sharp ROM so as to test this in the more classic conditions, and I don't even manage to make this run ... Who is the culprit : the PC or the Zaurus ?
Thanx for help !
Micla.

Do you want to synch or use the Zaurus as a mass storage device? To synch you need software on the PC, otherwise not. Make sure that the Zaurus has the correct settings under PC-Connect in the Settings tab. To use it as a mass storage device you'll need either a CF or SD card, put in on the Zaurus, set the relevant setting in PC connect, connect the Zaurus to the PC via the USB cable and make sure the Zaurus is on. The PC should see the card as a mass storage device. If not, you may have a hardware problem.

Just a point missed above : I've correctly choosen "Mode setting : CF Memory Card" ...!

Again an additional point :
I had used the USB link in "storage" mode, and it had perfectly worked, but I've had a connector pb, I've stopped to use the USB connection from then, and I've changed my PC configuration several time since.
Now, my connector problem is (should be ?) corrected, but I don't remember if I had made something specific on my Win XP in the first time to have a classical "storage" behavior.
What you say make me fear a hardware problem still existing ...

Try the Zaurus on a different computer.

Yes, made too ... Same result : always the "USB peripheral unknown/problem". That's why I'm fearing more and more about a hardware problem. Also tried with two different cords, and got same result ...
