In case you're wondering, no, FIrefox 2 isn't available yet.

Thank you for Capn_Fish and Jon_ J's reply. I've installed firefox successfully , however, when I click the icon, the mouse pointer shows a waiting clock for a while, and became a pointer again without starting firefox. What's wrong ?

Thank you !

Try starting it from the terminal. That should give you any errors that are being produced.

You can also try 'top' to see if it's running.
