Title: Password Manager?
Post by: kkazakov13 on June 01, 2007, 06:44:20 pm
What is the password manager that you use?

I'm searching for something to replace pwm/pi , i kinda don't like it ... i want something GTK based maybe.

Are there any that are more PDA-friendly?

Suggestions?

On sharp-roms there is "zsafe".
There also exist a desktop version (qt-based)
I used to run it on pdaXrom, but can't find the ipk right now.

Yeah... I have yet to find a desktop app that will open pwm/pi files.  If I lose the Z I'm hosed.

This doesn't works, because:

1. I have to unpack in console with zip / rar ?
2. This leaves the text file, even if I delete it, it leaves traces.
3. It's not convenient.

Tried to compile PasswordManager, but failed with lots of errors.
Pwm/Pi - I'm trying to avoid installing /Pi packages at all. Too sloooow for me.
Gringotts - Tried it, but unfortunately it's not password manager, but more like a crypted store-everything

How about Revelation : http://www.gnomefiles.org/app.php/Revelation (http://www.gnomefiles.org/app.php/Revelation) or GPass : http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Security/GPass-3639.shtml (http://linux.softpedia.com/get/Security/GPass-3639.shtml)?

If you're going to do something like this then forget zip (easy to crack password) and rar, simply just use gpg.

Is this on Z? If so then note that this is more or less the same program as in ko/pi - which you find too slow

I saw Revelation - but it's Python - which means slow. I will check it again, in case I cannot find anything else

GPass looks better - checking it now

Well, I got it compiled and working  just tested it. Will post the link to the packages in new packages thread later. It's there already, btw, http://z.drun.net/packages/ (http://z.drun.net/packages/?C=M;O=D) , you will need libmcrypt too. Looks this is the tool I wanted !

Glad I could help.

Thanks for compiling, I've got it installed and running. (it also required "libmhash")

Posted in New Packages thread. It's primarily specialized in storing usernames and passwords for sites and opening them with the credentials inside. But can work for storing any info in Description field. However, I'm still looking for the ultimate password manager  Less specialized.
