Title: Snap Together?
Post by: adf on June 23, 2007, 04:02:30 am
Saw this  http://www.linuxdevices.com/news/NS6730529835.html (http://www.linuxdevices.com/news/NS6730529835.html)  at tyrannozaurus. --embedded PCs on usb keys and immediately thought DB would have loads of fun making a cluster with 6 of 'em, a 7 port hub and a zaurus
actually, that could be kinda nifty...

here's the calao site:
http://www.calao-systems.com/?lng=en (http://www.calao-systems.com/?lng=en)

shame their single board linux units don't have video port otherwise they'd be ideal basis of the PP

yeah--it was the snap-together, lego aspect that tickled me.  ...that and the ability to scale a cluster by just popping in a usb key....  the wow/wtf? factor of doing something like that would be pretty high

- Cute.  One could stuff three of these in the space of a clamshell Z and have a hardware multi-threaded mini-grid computer with 196M RAM, 786M NAND, three ethernet ports, and six USB host ports.  Three of these in parallel would go a long way towards making that little 190Mhz speed tolerable, and if they are flat enough they could be ganged to six in the same space.  Now that's a pocket workstation!
