Title: Zaurus 5600 appears to have only 32M flash
Post by: Anonymous on October 11, 2003, 09:42:26 am
Hi,

I just got a Zaurus 5600 and am a bit confused about the amount of memory available. The spec says there should be:
 96MB Total
 32MB SDRAM
 64MB Protected Flash

The System Info dialog shows 29888kB Total Memory and 35840kB Internal Flash total.

The df command agrees with this (more or less) and gives me:

Filesystem           1k-blocks      Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/root                22528     21544     984  96% /
/dev/ram1                   44        28      16  64% /dev
/dev/mtdblock3           35840     13912   21928  39% /home
none                      1024       572     452  56% /dev/shm

So where\'s the missing memory? I\'m pretty sure I have a 5600, cos it came in a shrink-wrapped 5600 box and SL-5600 is printed on the back. But you never know...

Can someone out there with a 5600 run df and tell me what I should be seeing?

Thanks,
Kevin

I got the same results pretty much as you did. There is an explaination on this somewhere on the Sharp forums but haven\'t been able to find so far. I\'ll post it when I find it.

Nearly half the flash is used for the ROM, which is mounted on /. The other half of the flash is used for internal storage which is mounted on /home

Yeah, that makes sense. I think I was expecting to see the RAM show up in the df results or something...

Thanks,
Kevin
