The openmoko people said they were going to do they own forum, so why fragment?

a) Why not? Is it bad to have choice? Do you go to the same bar in a single location in the world to meet all people you have ever met? It *IS* already fragmented between the OpenMoko group and OESF group. I would assume that some are active in both. By having a subforum here would try to *reduce* fragmentation.
B) SIMpad, Archos, iPaq and Nokia Tablets forums are already here
c) I think there are some common aspects between OESF and OpenMoko
d) not including OpenMoko here will be the beginning of the end of this forum which still appears to be dedicated to the Zaurus (although it has been renamed long time ago). Why not try to keep it alive?
e) there has not yet been a decision which own forum OpenMoko will have. Maybe, they will have 10 different.

simply because most of the OM people are also Zaurus
users ?

Even if some start to create a new forum, most people
will check daily the OESF. So i would guess, that a OM
section here would be the right place.

This is more or less what some people in the openembedded community wants to see since the renaming, they  think that  "Open Embedded" creates confusion, and that the forum/association stole all the fame and name of the Open Embedded project.

They are not very active though....and not having the support from the official vendor/developer will not help making the forum very successful.

Now I don't really care, and I don't think it will fragment anything to open a forum here.

I find myself agreeing with Koen on the principle of not duplicating. However, if they were going to do it, they would have done it already, surely?!

I would suggest that it would be best to keep the OM forum on the OM domain/website to keep it official and try and concentrate efforts on it. They've done a good job with the wiki so need to continue to channel energies into keeping documentation up to date, and avoiding needless repetition on mailing lists and forums (I think mailing lists are worse than forums for noob questions).
