Title: Zmacsync 2.1.2 "zaurus Remote Control Center"
Post by: dhns on July 27, 2007, 02:54:25 am
Dear all,

it took much longer to find a critical issue in ZMacSync and it is solved in this new release:

http://www.dsitri.de/download/ZMacSync-2.1.2.tgz (http://www.dsitri.de/download/ZMacSync-2.1.2.tgz)

The solved issue is when you add a Task to iCal which has an alarm. ZMacSync did try to handle that in the same way as for an Event - and the Zaurus does not accept alarms in the Tasks list. This resulted in nvalid data being sent to the Zaurus. For a still unknown reason this did not clean up the connection properly and ZMacSync did hang.

And, there are new features. The most prominent is that you now can drag&drop files (images, ipk packages etc.) to ZMacSync and they will be copied to reasonable locations on the Zaurus.

Here is the list of new features (sorry, still no full bidirectional sync yet):

* fixed a bug when syncing tasks with alarm
* added a File Copy/Send/Install Button to transfer file(s) to the Zaurus
* either opens an Open Panel or accepts Drag&Drop (multiple files)
* added support to recognize the Letux n30 for Terminal and File Copy (not for syncing)

If you could get that working, I might even buy another Z....

I have expected this comment

But not that promptly

We are working on it... Other devices need it as well. But if it would be a straightforward task to perfectly bidirectionally sync devices, everybody would love to write sync programs.

I'm also wondering in addition to the Z, would this work on the Archos PMA430?

We have never tested. Do you own such a device?
