I was wondering if we all ought to contact Mark/Space and see if they would be interested in developing a version of Missing Sync for the Zaurus. They seem to be the main company providing iSync solutions for PDAs on the Mac. Anyhow, I am going to send them an e-mail and see what they say.

There\'s another company called PocketMac (http://pocketmac.net/) that provides a similar service. I have contacted them on a couple occasions and they claimed to be \"working\" on something. This was before Qtopia Desktop was available for OSX, so who knows if they have continued their research. I also contacted Mark/Space about our sync dilema. Maybe if we bug them enough something might get started.

Thanks for your interest. As of now, we do not have plans to develop for the Zaurus. However, we know many people are interested in such a product. However, it is not presently feasible for us to develop for it.
Mark/Space Support
That\'s the response I received. Thanks for posting the info about PocketMac. I did take the time to send them an e-mail.

When looking at the current poll results in this forum, addressbook and ical sync are the most prominent topics.
Probably, we all should start to support and help the project at http://maczsync.sourceforge.net (http://maczsync.sourceforge.net) resp. http://sourceforge.net/projects/maczsync/ (http://sourceforge.net/projects/maczsync/)
Currently, there is only one developer (Jason) actively working on it. So we all should contact him.

I also got a response from Mark/Space similar to the one they sent Ganoe. In doing some research using Sherlock to translate pages, I found a Japanese solution for exactly what we are looking for (I think) called zSync and zSync Extreme (http://www.ne.jp/asahi/pro/his/software/zsyn/zsyn.html). I\'ve used ZiCal to transfer my ICS files from my Z to my Mac, so I thought these might work out.
When I translate the Japanese documentation into English, it doesn\'t make perfect sense. In the case of ZiCal, I was able to get the gist of it and figure it out. With this I\'m not really sure this what we\'re looking for. I loaded both zSync and zSync Extreme on my Mac, but wasn\'t able to get very far. I have been also using USB Storage utility to mount my SD card on the Mac Desktop using the Z\'s cradle and transfer files that way.
If someone can translate the documentation into English for us, we might have a solution. Let me know what you all think.

Don\'t want to rain on your parade, but zSync is for the MI series of zaurus.
They have a different addressbook format from the SL series as far as I know and the don\'t run linux - some propriety OS that Sharp made or brought.

unfortunately, Jason writes me
I\'m really sorry, but I\'m no longer working on the Zaurus Mac Sync software. Sharp\'s change of the PIM format disheartened me a great deal, so I lost my enthusiasm both for the project and the Zaurus itself. If anyone wishes to take up the mantle, they\'re more than welcome to do so, of course.
What has to be done imho is
* adapt from FTP access to SSH
* adapt for the newer PIM database formats (changed from ROM 2.x to ROM 3.x)
Let\'s debate:
1) form a new developer community continuing Jason\'s work?
2) who takes over the admin rights at sourceforge?
BTW: we should start a new thread as this is no longer related to Mark/Space.
