Seems ironic that this one's missing from the regional user groups. I know myself and several other forum users are located in the Land of the Zaurus's birth.

Sure, I'll volunteer. Are there any instructions for moderators here beyond "Keep the loonies from running amuck"?
I think the OESF Japan User Group should use mainly English in forum posts because 1) English has worked so far for Japan users in the existing forums, 2) the community may include expatriates living in Japan but more comfortable communicating in English, 3) it will keep the user group open to other members of the OESF community, and 4) there are already many other Japanese language sources of support.
That being said, I would also have no problem with a little Japanese being used in the user group forum for fun or in desperation when no other source of help can be found, and I am fluent enough in Japanese to moderate the forum as long as I'm not expected to be too draconian and the post volume doesn't get too high.

I am in favour of letting users use the language they are most comfortable with. One of the reason I believe that we have so little members from Japan despite it being the home of the Zaurus is that they are uncomfortable with English. If there is a huge influx of Japanese users and posts in Japanese, then we could always add another moderator who speaks fluent Japanese.

maybe useful info could be at least run through babelfish and posted in english someplace (I'd expect things to go the other way, too.)

That is one fancy language.
You guys are free to use whatever language you want. If someone speaks english, there are tons of other sub-forums for them to participate in. Like someone posted before though, keep those of us that can't read that language in the loop with stuff.
