what is the proper howto to have java running under firefox ?

How about these?
java-gcj-compat-plugin
java-gcj-compat
gij-4.2  
libgcj7-jar
libgcj8-1-awt

I guess overclocking can be useful too...

yes, but my nokia6630 can run java software, so why not the zaurus...

by the way, there's package dependance trouble to install zdevil's

You could try a new "apt-get update" and a reinstall, maybe packages got updated recently.

Perhaps not all dependencies are available for ARM. A check with the package search engine may help (look for the supported architecture).
Apart from browser java plugins I am also thinking of standalone java, such as classpath. That should work ...

anyway apparently java seems broken under arm :
