Title: Connecting 2 Zaurii Together Thru Usb For File Transfer?
Post by: Jon_J on October 19, 2007, 07:17:51 pm
I am trying to connect my Cacko Zaurus (SL-C3100) to my pdaxii13 Zaurus (SL-C3200) through USB.
I want to transfer some files from my C3100 to my C3200
I have my Cacko Zaurus set in storage mode to access the hard drive (FAT)
I hooked 2 USB cables together so I have a mini A host connected to my pdaxii13 Zaurus and
mini B client connected to my Cacko Zaurus.
When doing this, my Cacko Zaurus displays the light blue screen and says "Connecting"
The screenshot shows the difference in the mount information when connected and not connected.

The last line shown in the screenshot is covered, and it is as below:
none on /proc/bus/usb type usbdevfs (rw)

As you can see in the screenshot, mb-applet-powerctrl shows this:
USB OHCI Root Hub
SL-C3100

I tried using the following mount commands, which gave no useful results.

mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/usbstorage/

mount /dev/sda1 -t vfat /mnt/usbstorage/

mount /proc/bus/usb -t usbdevfs /mnt/usbstorage/

The third command mounted "usbstorage"
I looked in /mnt/usbstorage/ and the contents in that folder were the same as the contents in /proc/bus/usb/
What do I need to do to get my vfat partition on my C3100 mounted onto my C3200?
I think this could be useful for anyone with 2 Zaurii and no access to an internet connection, like hooking a camera to a Zaurus.
When I plug either of my Zaurii into my Windows machine, the USB connection utilizes the Sharp driver that comes on the CD.
Is there something like this driver for the Zaurus? So it can be plug + play between 2 Zaurii.
Sorry if this question has already been answered, and I have been searching and browsing for awhile for a solution.

That's an interesting idea, but why not simply move stuff with an SD card?

Anyway, all the best in getting that to work!

A few days ago I had exactly the same idea. I'm probably going to be meeting a friend who has an 860 who doesn't know much about setting it up so I thought if I can take my USB A-mini A cable and USB A-CXXX cable to our meeting I could network the two machines together because in all likelihood she hasn't even got a terminal installed.

I don't want to transfer files. I want full networking so I can fsck^H^H optimise her system.

That's as far as I got though. Haven't tried it yet and I know nothing about USB networking...
