Title: Xfce Questions
Post by: scottlfa on October 21, 2007, 01:37:56 pm
At the moment I am using Xfce4 as my working GUI (Have OBox and KDE to play with).

Question 1 - How do I get volume control working with the mb-applet-powerctrl or mb-applet-volume?  The first dosen't even alter the volume at all, same for the second in xfce4.

Question 2 - How do I get the screen to just blank when I close the lid (in xfce4)?

Question 3 - How do I get the Z to suspend and restore properly when the on/off button is pressed on the front of the unit.

1. there is a volume-control applet for the xfce4-panel. Not sure whether the latest version is available for pdaX, but I'm sure I had it working on xfce4.2.

2. check this thread : https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showto...p;hl=finetuning (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=14031&hl=finetuning). I know the solution is in the pdaX-forums and I think that is the correct thread.

3. I never knew that was a problem ?

The volume applet for xfce4 seems to work at some moments and then not at others.  It fails to work or holds the dsp while its running so I cannot use xmms while the applet is on the bar.

I am running pdaXii13, it suspends fine.  When I press the button to restore it flashes the screen for a second and the goes blank again.  Given time it will do this off an on till I reset it.  It would seem the restore from suspend is more the issue I am having.  If I issue a apm -s command the system suspends and restores fine.  (tried mapping the button and it broke for some reason).

Thanks Chero

PS Hows Titchy doing?  Was looking into running it ... seemed very complex though to get running.

There is an xmms plugin as well, with a volume control included (?). Maybe try that one.

I remember the on/off "problem" of beta3. Just wait long enough after a suspend before resuming. And make sure you only press once (short) to resume. I should work correctly, but be careful. This is not an xfce4-"problem" but a pdaX-thing. (it works faster and better on r198).

Titchy is fine but it does need some work to set it up on a C1000 (or CXX0). It still has some things that need to be solved, but this is not the correct forum to discuss these. Oh, it's way better than Capn_Fish's signature says, he was only missing udev.

For no troubles while turning on, I use 'home' - it's supposed to turn z on always, not off, so never had any problems.
