Title: Doc Folder
Post by: scottlfa on December 16, 2007, 07:19:32 pm
Can the doc folder under /usr/share be removed without complications to standard use?   Looking to free up space on the C1K's SD card.

Yeah, I am tempted to do that as well.  It takes up a lot of space.  For my machine much of it is full of texlive documentation, but it still represents 380M of space.

No, I don't know whether anything would break if you removed it.  But, I am tempted to do so.

How about "mv -r /usr/share/doc /usr/share/doc_not" or some such, then try it out to see if stuff breaks.

Would seem to be a bad idea, X takes next to forever to load once its removed.  So I guess it needs it.

That's odd.  Good to know.
