Terminal screen makes me login and I typed in root because I didn't know what the login was and now I am stuck at a terminal screen
What do I do?

Wow, no I didn't. Thats the one I thought I had to install.
I installed:
Angstrom-console-image-glibc-ipk-2007.9-test-20071210-akita-installkit.tgz
Can anyone tell me which one I need to install?

Alright, I want to get the gpe image of Angstrom but the only one available for akita is the minimalist but it says:
Very minimal system with X11 GUI, on which you may install software you need. Suitable for devices with minuscule amount of flash and for DIY fans. NOT suitable for first-time users.
Why is that? Do I have to self-compile the apps I want? Or can I get it from a package list?
This is what I want to do with my zaurus:
gaim, browser internet, emulators, word documents, kistmet, aircrack, and other self compiled things or things I want from the package manager
This is what I was thinking about downloading:
Angstrom-minimalist-gpe-image-glibc-ipk-2007.11RC2-akita-installkit.tgz
What do you guys recommend I do? I need a good gui interface and GPE looks really nice compared to the other one that is supported by Angstrom. But I am just a little iffy when it says it should not be used for first time users. Is this first time users of the Zaurus or linux? Because I am pretty good with linux, I mean .. I can work around it

This is the one you need:
http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unsta...-installkit.tgz (http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unstable/images/akita/RC1/Angstrom-x11-image-glibc-ipk-2007.11RC1.1-akita-installkit.tgz)
Although, i wouldn't recommend angstrom. You better go with pdaxii3 for starters. It's stable, and it has all the things you said you want.

Alright, I am going to try that. I am not fond of the pdaxii3 gui ;\

Just to shed some light on your use case scenarios:
- gaim is now pidgin
- browsers are available but they all have one or another drawback. The one I like most is "links" however it lacks scripting support (JavaScript, etc.). Dillo is also ok but I found it rather inconvenient dealing with local web sites. minimo is a great idea (minimalistic mozilla) but a huge memory hog and unfinished. There are some more but I believe everything is more or less work in progress.
- emulators: Do not expect performance wonders when emulating machines which are based on a higher level than the Z´s XScale architecture.
- word documents: On the small screen office work imho is a PITA. I try to use it with our corporate architecture documents and excel sheets but ...
- wireless tooling and sniffing is ok.
I found it very convenient to use the Z as a small companion with supported tooling, linke outliners (eg. notecase) and even mindmapping (vym) as well as note taking and drawing instant sketches with xournal.
Plus email (claws), rss feed and news reading.
All this is possible with Angstrom/X11. GPE for me is only a more or less convienent window manager with some setup tools.
I hope this helps.

Yes, I know gaim is now pidgin, just not used to saying it.
Most of the stuff I wrote was just listing stuff that I want to be there, not necessarily using as a everyday task such as word documents.
By emulators I mean like snes, ect.
I mainly am using it for messaging, browser(email, rss, news, web), maybe some game emulators(nothing fancy), and wireless tooling and sniffing
