thinking of trying Angstrom.
any spitz owners have any opinion on the state of it atm compared to pdaXrom?
-
It works fairly well, but takes some work to have the same flexibility as pdaX.

decided to install it this morning, had a few problems with Cf wifi.
i could connect but no response from ping, i had a guess all the usb net interfaces were the cause of my problems so removed them in the network tool and all is working.

yeah, that's cos they set the default route via the usbnet connected gateway. why? I don't know.. just lazyness I guess.. if you're a developer it's easy enough to start a console or xterm or ssh in and use "route add".
just remove the gateway line from usb0 device in interfaces file, or make it manual startup... that's what I do. if I do want usbnet to be my main network access, I bring it up manually.

once you've angstrom working, why not give a try to debian zaurus ?

Because Angstrom is more or less Debian (with patches applied to make it more suitable for Zaurus and much better package granularity)
To use Debian armel you need Angstrom kernel, xserver, ts driver, zaurusd, keymap, tweaks already in Angstrom, etc.
Your work on bringing debian to zaurus is much appreciated, but please consider contributing some of your findings to Angstrom.
(Disclaimer: no affiliation at all with OE/Angstrom - also I don't want to start a flame war, just my humble opinion)

you're totally right! and you know i was an angstrom pioneer on my c3000 too! and even when i went to debian, "angstrom" has always been in my signature (in fact until yonggun thew his 2.6.24 kernel one week ago!) !
however i tried latest angstrom some weeks ago and i felt into ipk install problems i never had before when trying angstrom... i first said to myself that i had to continue because there's always an angstrom support with bugs.openembedded but i had so many problems that i resigned and went back to debian armel...
i don't think there should be a fight between debian and angstrom : both are arm eabi
it's true debian has taken some work from angstrom, specially zaurus customization, but everyone in debian forum knows about that. my initial post was just a suggestion about trying debian, not a flame at all
