Title: What is the Best IRC Client on C760/C860
Post by: toadatrix on March 15, 2004, 12:01:19 pm
I have a C860 running the latest Cacko ROM (v1.20 released March 5).  I want to install a IRC (internet relay channel) client program so that I can communicate in IRC groups.  I tried Zic and it works, but the GUI is designed for the 5500 screen and doesn\'t look so good on the C860.  What is a really good IRC program for the C860?  Thanks.

you can do a text window and irssi ...
you can do gaim

with X, you can do xchat.

I tend to use irc from a connected host and then screen into that.  YMMV

Then ist there a gaim version for the CXXX?
When I installed the gaim from the \"gaim-feed\", it didn\'t look that nice to me. But I\'m a real fan of the program and really miss it on my C860!

cheers
Kathrin

qpe-gaim works on my c860, but the icons were small until I did the following as root:

# cd /opt/QtPalmtop/pics/gaim
# rm -rf 16x16
# ln -s 32x32 16x16

I think that the preference option of \"Use Large Icons\" is supposed to set the icons larger, but it was not working for me.  Seeing as I am never going to use the 16x16 icons anyway I think that there is no harm in doing the above.
