Title: Secure Vnc With Opie Howto
Post by: mr_nice on October 01, 2008, 09:41:21 am
Hi all,
I tested VNC on the SIMpad and it works quite well

here [1] is a howto for it
and here [2] is the needed ipk (I will host it until it gets into the feeds, which should be soon)

have fun!

Nice! Any difference to VNC usage on GPE (speedwise)?

After my unsuccessful tries of X-forwarding through SSH I gave up on that idea, since it was too slow, and I didn't find the time to do more examinations of X-forwarding without SSH and VNC (just using minimo again for now), but maybe I'll try on OPIE again, since you now even have managed to create a konqueror embedded ipk.

I can't say anything about speed differences because I didn't tested it on gpe. If you like I can try to build a ipk for gpe (tightvnc) so you can test it.
I don't want to reflash my pad the next few weeks because it is now in a working state .
