Title: [beginner]how To Go Back & Do I Have The Stuff To Go Back?
Post by: lennart on September 24, 2009, 04:57:55 pm
Hi all,

I've bought a Simpad SL4 on "the internets". I want to experiment with a Linux distribution. Which is the most common / supported / "easy" to start with?

The Simpad has / is:On a CD i've the following software:When something goes wrong, do i have enough to go back? What is the rescue plan to restore the old CE on my Simpad? Is there a way to copy the Rom 1:1 to my harddisk? That would be ideal.

hi,
you need to make the j-tag mod [1]. You should then also be able to save the rom with urjatag [2] or jtagtools. without jtag you may not be able to reflash the old bootloader if anything goes wrong with flashing it.
angstrom is currently the best supporting distibution. Please read opensimpad.org it contains most of the informations you need. Even if the site needs some updates

best regards
nice
