Title: Running (minimised) apps shown on taskbar?
Post by: lardman on March 19, 2004, 10:42:50 am
Is this possible with matchbox? I presume an applet would be required to do this, does anyone know of one?

I find it a real pain not knowing what I\'ve got minimised as I end up opening a new instance everytime I need the terminal instead of maximising an existing one.

you can look in the active tasks folder on the desktop

right... I wanted to suggest to matchbox wiki / mallum

(1) a hotkey to make the applet bar appear / disappear (so it can be on any desktop, etc?)

(2) a version of the \"active tasks\" that will go across the applet bar....

I\'d be happy with dragging and dropping icons to the screen ala rox, and having these
appear and/or disappear via key... as it is now, I just keep the active tasks folder open
so I can switch between tasks (because they\'re on different virtuals)

ps: I\'ll probably switch to another window manager eventually.... but for now...

Hmm, I had realised this don\'t worry, but it\'s a pain. I generally run stuff maximised, or at least close to, so it\'s inconvenient to have to minimise/move things to see what\'s running. Full use of the taskbar (like Qtopia/Opie/other X WMs), or at least a pop up task list window would be good.

I presume such a thing doesn\'t exist. I looked on mallum\'s web site and couldn\'t find any example code for writing applets (unless it\'s in with the matchbox source?). I\'ll take a look later in the week.
