Title: To all owners of 5600 trying to flash their ROM
Post by: terminus on March 19, 2004, 06:46:20 pm
Please beware when downloading a new ROM from myzaurus.com as one link under Downloads]5600 is incorrect.  If you click on the arrow icon it will bring you to a page related to flashing ROM on 5500.  You have to click on the \'Read Instructions and Download\' link to go to the correct page.

I got messed up because of it too.  My lights were flashing for half an hour until I decided that something was not right.  Very Bad Thing™.

I have sent a note to the webmaster about this too.

Terminus,

Seems to work now.   Is this what you found?

No it still doesn\'t karmmisht.  The red icon with arrow to the left of \"SL-5600 OS and Synchronization...\" points to ROMupdate3.asp which is \"SL-5500 System ROM and Synchronization Software Update\".  The text link correctly points to ROMupdate6.asp which is \"SL-5600 OS and Synchronization Software Update\"

OK Sorry - didn\'t read your post carefully.  When I navigated there, I didn\'t click on the link path as you indicated.  Seems they should know better to take care in setting up accurate links considering the potential consequences of flashing a Z with the wrong ROM.

I hope you get a meaningful response from them.  I\'ve sent them a few emails asking about the disappearance of the development site and got non-responsive replies.

Just a note.  After all this time they finally fixed the bad link this past week.
