Title: Working VT-100 and serial port
Post by: Flash on March 24, 2004, 09:01:38 pm
How about a functional VT-100 terminal that will actually work with teh serail port. The use would be to communicate with telephone PBX\'s and key systems, as well as routers, adn any device that has that magical 9 pin serial port hanging in the back. IF this is not possible, will the new 6000 do that when it comes out?

Use minicom.  I use it to interface to Serial Consoles on Sun Boxen.  Works like a charm.

Just wondering how you configure, stop, ... minicom. I seem unable to use the control keys. I have a 5600.

There\'s JeTermz at:
http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=1203 (http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=1203)

It\'s well supported (SerialIO also sells the best serial cables for the Z) but it\'s not free.

JeTermZ is a serial port controller & communicator (capture & stuff). It doesn\'t do VT-100 terminal emulation at all. As far as I know, Flash has talked directly with the SerialIO folks and they acknowledge the lack of VT-100 terminal in the Z\'s and may work on a terminal program. Until then, we were looking for something that might work that has full VT-100 support in  at least 80 columns...
