Title: Newbie intro
Post by: HennaOjisan on October 21, 2003, 05:19:08 pm
Hi all,

I\'m happy new owner of 760 (offroadgeek, thanks for your comment earlier in 5x00 area post).

I\'m a native Japanese in US and I would be glad to help with language related issues with apps/manual/etc. I think I could learn quite a bit along the way also. I just made a big leap from Palm IIIe to 760

Looking forward to exchanging useful infos.

welcome henna!  what do you like most about your 760?  for me, it has to be both the screen and the RAM.

wlecome to the community!

Thanks offroadgeek!

I agree with you. I love the screen, the keyboard, and the general build. One of the big factor for me was the 5 dictionaries that came with it (not available on B500). I think most y\'all are missing out on that :-) Although I have to say there\'s little more to be desired of software on it, but it has all the good basis covered with plenty of memory! With my MicroDrive and SD card, I basically use it as a mini-laptop.

Looking to get Socket WLAN CF and Ethernet CF. Although, there was a line in the manual somwhere that the unit is not compatible with 802.1x... Dunno. Fun\'s just beginning :-)

not compatible with 802.1x?  I (and many others) know first hand that it works just great with 802.11b.  I use my wifi card daily! (used to be a d-link 660w, now an ambicom wl110c-cf)

I would think, but it\'s on the Jp manual P.91, if you care

Dear Henna,
I noticed that you will be using your 760 as a laptop.  I have a 750 and that is what I am interested in also.  My question is how do you transfer information in hancomword to print on your desktop.  I can transfer the notes through palmdesktop but I don\'t know how to transfer other documents that I have typed on my 750.  Thanks for your help. Hello Sharon,

I\'m just starting to use it as noted and I have yet to explore all of the options... but so far, I have been transfering my files via SD/CF card. I have a portable 3in1 USB adaptor (SD/CF/SM) to complete the transfer onto the targeted PC.

I tried using the sync to my PalmDesktop but I found that cumbersome and slow. If you get in the habit of organizing your materials in SD/CF card, I think it\'s much faster and flexible this way.

I now have SSH working but I\'m looking around for a good FTP program to transfer my files wirelessly also. If I can get the Octave and Latex to work on this, it\'ll be my dream scientific pocket machine :-)

Dear Henna,  Thank you very much for your answer. I don\'t know why I didn\'t think of it but I also have a usb adaptor.  You made my day.  By the way, I\'m an army brat and lived in Japan twice but obviously I didn\'t know the language enough to know the meaning of your name your name.  Again, I appreciate your help.  Sharon
