Are there any of you who have tried both Debian and pdaXrom? If so, could you share what you see as the pros and cons of each. Particularly interested in the performance of applications in each environment.
thx

This thread may be on interest to you:
http://www.zaurususergroup.com/index.php?n...ket+workstation (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=801&highlight=pocket+workstation)
My experience was that I didn\'t like the sluggish performance of X. So, I run Qtopia with xqt for the times that I need to forward X apps. YMMV

I wouldn\'t put too much weight into that thread since it is from December. I know pdaXrom has had a new version since which addressed much of its performance issues as well as many others. I would suspect that the other distributions have also.

I missed Qtopia, I run X/Qt for when I **need** X, which isn\'t that often. I ran pdaXrom for a bit because I liked the idea of X on a tiny workstation, but I didn\'t find it usable, too small to see, but it was faster than X/Qt. YMMV

lord -- make no mistake -- the pdaxrom isn\'t as \"snappy\" as oz or sharp, or daniela, etc...
but, X is worth it. I\'d rather wait 40 seconds for firefox to come up... than
be stuck with no firefox.
just look at all the programs that are out there for X.... some are starting to be
made into ipks for the pdaxrom...
if you want a pda, go qtopia... if you want a pocket workstation -- go pocketworkstation or pdaXrom
(depending on your device)
just my opinion.
