Title: correct settings for sync with XP (OpenZaurus user)
Post by: dshumate on March 27, 2004, 10:53:23 am
Gang-

I\'m trying to sync my 5500 (using latest release of OZ) with my XP machine, and I\'m rolling \"snake-eyes\" so far.  The connection is never established, whether it\'s TCP/IP or I/O-USB, I cannot make it sync with the Qtopia desktop.

Anyone know what my settings should be on the security tab on the 5500?  Since I\'ve only used the Sharp ROM in the past, I\'m used to \"PC LINK\" as an option to connect.

Thanks.

You need the old usb drivers.

USB/IO is not available, TCP/IP is the only method supported for syncing (and for anything for that matter).

You\'ll need the older qtopia desktop or intellisync software too.

The default setting in the security tab should work fine, but you can change it to Any if it makes you feel better. Install the new software and make sure you setup IP addresses for both ends of the connection, then test by pinging.

A search for \'ifconfig AND ipconfig\' should tell you about makeing sure your connection is working.

A search for (or visit to ;-)) \'http://www.sharp.co.uk/zaurus/support/support/htm\' should find you the link for the software (assuming you don\'t have an \'old\' CD lying around with it on).
