It looks as if it could make the perfect laptop replacement.
Now who is going to do the first comparative review between the SL-6000 and the C860?

Anything that furthers the cause is good news for us all.
I prefer the form factor of my 860, but I do not believe there is much difference apart from the built in communication options on the 6000 and obviously the casing.
Also, this is an official machine outside Japan, I think it\'s safe to say it\'s a C series in a 5x00 type case. (simply)

I disagree... I do however think that the new features in the 6000, especially the usb host ability is very nice, the form factor alone is what would deter me from using it as a laptop replacement.
Now if there was a 960 with usb host running the pdaxrom... that would be a laptop replacement!

I would have to agree with ORG as well, I have a 5600 and would in no way considure it a laptop replacement. The form factor makes it difficult to use in all situations and typing is pretty slow going. I keep holding out on getting a C-XXX type Z in hopes that Sharp will release this form factor in the US. My reasoning for holding out is local support with out going through a 3rd party vendor ( not that we get much support now ). I\'m going to wait it out a little longer to see what happens but by the fall I will probably break down and get a C series if nothing seems to be on the horizon. I do love the Z I have and it does great for what I do now but would really like to get more out it and stop having to drag my laptop everywhere as well as my Z. I was even considuring getting the FlipPC that vulcan announced when/if it gets released but it doesn\'t seem to have the same novelty that the Z has or a community like the ZUG to back it up.
Just my .02 if it\'s even worth that

Antoher thing I like from the 6000 is the built in mic and speaker (like on the 5600). Maybe it is not the the most critical think for a developer/sys admin, but as a user I sincerly miss them on the 5500.

I believe they can be a perfect replacement for a laptop . They have a full PC hardware compatibility and they can run standard Linux with no compromises .

But like I said above they just don\'t have the same novelty as the Z or this community behind them. Besides neither one has hit the market yet.
Price is another biggie, from what I\'ve heard both are $1000 +

As for laptop replacement, what would you say to a 6000, with a case similar to Piel Frama but with the flap on the left side instead of over the top, and a membrane keyboard built into the inside of the flap? That way, you\'d still have a keyboard available in portrait mode, and have use of a landscape keyboard. Of course, I\'d settle for an adapter & driver combo to get the Logitech KeyCase keyboard working.

Yes, its transflective - or whetever they call them - and does well under sunlight, unlike the C7xx series screens.
Its actually like the 5xxx screen except its VGA too. My 5000D would read better under sunlight with baclight turned off.

Yes, the c760 and the sl6000 use different types of screens

Though it would be nice, I don\'t find myself \"missing\" this feature. On a nice sunny day I do wish the screen to be transflective.
