Title: SCO vs IBM Case Closed
Post by: tapjpa on April 01, 2004, 03:26:34 pm
In an bizarre turn of events this morning the Judge overseeing the SCO vs IBM case has closed the case stating that after a though look into the true ownership of the disputed code it was discoved that it now belongs to Microsoft. It is unknown at this time how the license was transfered but the judge stated a full report was fourth coming.

As of the writing of this article neither IBM or SCO would comment on the judges desicion. However it has been rumored that Bill Gates was seen running through the halls at Microsoft buck naked screaming \"I OWN THE WORLD\"

i hope it was the first and not the second

on the otherhand if it was the second it would hurt microsoft\'s reputation (not that they need any help to do that) and that is always a good thing 8)

There was an article on \"The Register\" regarding IBM filing for closure on the basis of copyright not being owned by SCO or something like that.

It looked like it would stop SCO from making general sweeping claims.

It was a little \"fuzzy\", I think the logic was simply if you don\'t own the copyright, then you can\'t get upset with us for copying \"your\" code. And if you feel we have breached copyright, then you are required to list the exact items to which you own copyright that we are supposed to have breached.

The bit that did not add up, was that the author thought even if IBM won on this bases, it would not let other companies SCO are trying to rip off (IMHO) off the hook.

Thought I\'d put the IMHO in, don\'t want to be procecuted

Actually, Linux has been confiscated by the United States Government.  We have very strong proof that there are Weapons of Mass Destruction in the source code.

We will fight this terror to no end.  Bring it on!
