Title: opie-handwriting crashed the system
Post by: superbondbond on April 02, 2004, 06:39:18 pm
This is something that\'s never happened before.
I recently changed my memory/RAM setup on OZ3.2 on my 5500. I had been running the 32/32 setup for quite some time with no problems whatsoever. I have alway found OZ 3.2 to be very stable I wanted a bit more system memory, so I went for the 48/16 setup. It flashed OK, and I then began to get everything customized the way I like it.

When I went it to change some of the handwriting characters to match what I wanted, then went to save the settings, it completely locked up the system. I  went to do a soft reset, then when it gets to the OZ boot screen, it locks up on that. The cursor stops blinking and it just stays there indefinitely. Even a hard reset doesn\'t fix it. I\'m beginning to think I need to re-flash, which isn\'t a big deal considering I did it yesterday.

Has anybody else ran into problems when customizing the handwriting recognition? Should I stay away from that, or install a different version? My only guess is to take the advice from the OZ FAQ (here) (http://www.openzaurus.org/oz_website/faq/faq?id=183) and move the \"qimpen\" file to ram and symlink it where it\'s located in ROM.I\'ll be re-flashing the ROM anyway, but a little advice on preventing this in the futrue would be helpful.

Thanks in advance
