Oh i almost forgot....here is what the company that makes the thing says...

Dear customer,

Thank you for your inquiry.

So far, we have no plan to provide Linux driver by ourselves and support it.
But actually, the Linux driver of the chip implemented in the CFU1U is available on Cypress Web site, http://www.cypress.com (http://www.cypress.com).
The chip in the CFU1U is Cypress SL811HS.
http://www.cypress.com/products/datasheet....partnum=SL811HS (http://www.cypress.com/products/datasheet.cfm?partnum=SL811HS)
If the code is added PCMCIA function, I think you can use the CFU1U on Linux.

Here is I/O register map of the CFU1U.
I/O base address + 0:SL811 address
I/O base address + 1:SL811 register
I/O base address + 2:SL811 register
I/O base address + 3:SL811 register
I/O base address + 4-7:not used

These are the only information that we can provide.

One of our customer seems to have made the driver as follows.
Please take a look at:
http://paipai.org/~humorum/english/zaurus/...fu1-driver.html (http://paipai.org/~humorum/english/zaurus/cfu1-driver.html)

Cheers

Wonderful, thank you everyone.  I installed everything and it sees the card but I am unable to mount anything.  I tried the card in my buddies pocketpc, it worked just fine.  I emailed the author of the driver to see if it a 5600 specific issue.

what kind of device are you trying to mount and what kind of error messages do you get?  Is it something to do with the card or the device?  I just want to know bc i am seriously considering buying that card, and i would like to know if it works

Yet another post......Sorry, i\'ve been researching this alot lately.

Apparantly there are other cards...
http://www.twin-paradox.com/comparison.html (http://www.twin-paradox.com/comparison.html)
But the only one availible right now is the ratoc.

The interpocket one actually supports the zaurus !
to bad they\'re sold out AND located in germany

The Twin paradox one comes out in may, and it looks a bit bulky (built in 2 port hub), not to mention no linux support

Yes, I have seen the page with the paradox.  I have installed the packages noted earlier and with a few scripts the darn thing works on my 5600!  I have mounted my watch and unfortunately my 80gb hd died or got zapped by the host... it appears to see the controller and returns a no media found error.  Unmounting is a little buggy and I have had a few freezes.  I am using the Kompany rom btw.  I have yet to try the hub, but there is no reason a host would not allow a hub =]

Ok i realize that i have posted way to much on this thread, but i just want to get the info out there, as currently its....sparce...to say the least

I got my joystick working using the following.
mknod /dev/js0 c 13 0
modprobe hid
modprobe joydev

then if you plug in the joystick and cat /dev/js0 you\'ll see some wierd chars when you move the jspush buttons.

I compiled joyd and joy2key for the z, if anyone wants these let me know. Im gonna set up joy2key so i can use my gamepad to play snes9x games, then the $150 for the ratoc card will have been worth it

Nice that it does not need a cable and provides two USB ports. But it seems to be huge compated to the RATOC device and I\'m not sure there are linux drivers available...

First make sure you loaded the patched keybdev.o , otherwise the keys will be all messed up. then....
su root
modprobe hid
modprobe keybdev
Then plug in the keyboard, and it should work
good luck

Corona_B:  Thanks for the help, but I think I may have something wrong still.  I have the following modules loaded.

usbcore.o
hc_sl811.o
sl811_cs.o
input.o
keybdev.o
hid.o

when I try to modprobe hid or keybdev I get and error \"modprobe:  Can\'t locate module hid\" or \"..keybdev\"
Title: Cypress SL811HS USB HOST CARD Drivers
Post by: Corona_B on April 21, 2004, 01:38:47 am
so you did or didnt load hid and keybdev ?  You said you had them loaded and then said it gave an error....im confused
Title: Cypress SL811HS USB HOST CARD Drivers
Post by: agosine on April 21, 2004, 06:38:48 am
Corona_B: Guess its some confusion on my part.  I have been loading modules with insmod.  Is this the correct way?  When I do \"insmod hid\" or \"insmod keybdev\" they load fine.  At least I think so because they are listed when I do lsmod.  If I try the commands \"modprobe hid\" and \"modprobe keybdev\" I get the error.  Is there a difference between using insmod or modprobe?

Anyone got an HFS+ filesystem driver?  My iPod is recognized (the newer one with USB 2.0), but I can\'t access the files and don\'t want to reformat as FAT.

I found this page http://www-sccm.stanford.edu/Students/hargrove/HFS/ (http://www-sccm.stanford.edu/Students/hargrove/HFS/) looks like there is hope for HFS on the z =]

That (stanford.edu) url is for HFS, not HFS+.

HFS filesystem support is in the kernel, it only needs to be enabled and kernel recompiled.

HFS is the ORIGINAL macintosh filesystem.  HFS+ is something newer, in OS 9 and OS X, and used on the iPod.  I already have HFS (and ISO9660 and my portable USB CDRom mounts), and that works, but HFS is useless for reading HFS+ partitions on my iPod.

To read a hard drive, you need to insmod:

usbstorage (there may be an underscore I\'m missing here).
scsi_mod
sd_mod

and potentially some others.  USB mass storage is SCSI over a wire.

I am assuming they came with the packages that are linked previously in this forum... I have about 700 ipkg\'s though.. probably about 1/3 of them actually work.

I am running a special kernel (not sure which one) and zynergy... hate it, but it works better than oz.

Title: Cypress SL811HS USB HOST CARD Drivers
Post by: Keola on May 25, 2004, 11:23:22 am
I wrote a script to load the required modules and mount my desired drives... I named it S50sdamount.sh chmod 744 and copied it to /etc/init.d/ then symlinked it to /etc/rc2.d/

it works.. but for some reason it says my partitions are not valid block devices. I don\'t understand why it does this.. I can run the script again once I am in opie and it works fine.

but for some reason the mount points are not scanned by applications such as aqpkg and the doctab.  It only does this when I boot off the SD.

any input would be nice...

Post by: tz on May 25, 2004, 02:03:43 pm
Without seeing a dmesg or other diagnostic, it probably can\'t find all the pieces at first scan, i.e. it doesn\'t have the filesystem, or the CF/PCMCIA chain isn\'t loaded so it doesn\'t see USB yet (although the device files may be in /dev and the scsi chain loaded).  Until the USB is enumerated, and usbstorage is up, you won\'t see anything.

dmesg should be revealing, but a lsmod ]/home/tmp/checkpoint1.log... at points might also show something.

it did eventually work... the drive must be spun up, then the cable attached, then the z powered on.  I was unable to test suspend and resume... very bad things happened :/

- write your own scripts! lol

tz thats a good idea connecting the ipod to the z. I just bought a creative zen extra and plan on using it as a battery powerd 30 gb hd for my z  , and must maybe some mp3 playing.

I have a Windows-formatted (FAT32) 10GB iPod and it works with the Zaurus  :-)
There were a few glitches when mounting, but I found that it is best to connect the iPod and wait for some time - only then the partition table can be seen.

So now a Zaurus + iPod make a very good storage for pictures from compact flash / SD cameras.

Hi All,

I'm currently looking at getting a new digital camera, it's gonna take big pictures and currently whilst my Z has a 4gb cf hd in it, this doesn't help when the camera's format is cf.

I also have a iriver h140, (40gb) that is a usb device.  When using the ratok card can you connect a camera via a hub and copy files across?  Has anyone done this before?  I've read single devices being used but not a hub and copying across devices.

TIA

i know this thread hasn't been touched in a while, but i'll post this in the hopes that it will help someone in the future.

I just got the new 20gb iPod with the click wheel, and wanted to make it a 20 battery powered hd for my z, it works like a champ!

there was only 1 difference between mounting the ipod and mounting any other usb mass storage device, for some reason when mounting the ipod use the /dev/sda2 device instead of the /dev/sda1 device you would normally use for like a jump drive or similiar device

at first i thought maybe that ratoc card was just another overpriced toy..... now its starting to prove it's worth!
