Title: SL-5600 feels choppy
Post by: legend on April 08, 2004, 02:29:30 pm
I\'ve got an SL-5600 running theKomany Rom, and I\'m having some trouble with it feeling choppy at times.  For example, sometimes when I\'m using handwriting recognition or the built-in paint program, it will freeze for half a second or so and mess up writing.

I checked the running processes, and qpe appears to be running modprobe once every few seconds.  Any idea if this is what might be causing it?  If not, any other thoughts?

Do you have the IrDA applet installed and loaded? That caused the problem for me, as it doesn\'t work on the 5600 anyway. After I uninstalled the IrDA applet the problem went away.

I see it on here, but it\'s not listed in my list of uninstallable applications.  Is there any way I can get rid of it?  I don\'t see myself ever actually using it for anything.

It\'s probably in the tkcROM. The links to it are in /home/QtPalmtop/plugins/applets . There should be 3 obviously named symlinks which you can delete to get rid of it (you\'ll have to restart Qtopia to refresh the applets).

When my 5600 felt choppy it was a memory problem.  Did you check Sys info\'s free memory on the settings tab.
