Is there a side-by-side \"pros and cons\" review of the available Cx00 ROMs anywhere please? I can see some people like Cacko\'s Qtopia ROM (which is the one I use on my 860) but I can\'t really see the big picture versus the pdaXrom and the OpenZaurus ROM(s). I\'d like to see a comparitive review - if none exists then I might *possibly* try to do one myself.
Thanks, Ian.

I may just add my two eurocent: pdaXrom is better for a person who wants to do development on the Z, since it is gives you a real X environment. This however means that Qt-based applications are slower, since there is a middle layer, and besides they have to be recompiled :-)
ciao, .mau.

if you need a stable PDA environment go for the Cacko Qtopia ROM, which is based on the sharp rom. If you need a tiny linux workstation then pdaxrom is the choice. For other devices (SL5500) i think oz is the best choice.

What is the main advantage over the original ROM? Besides the fact that other ROMs are more open...

pdaXrom has more compatability with linux server/workstations and therefore is able to port over linux apps running
X11 more easily.
OZ/OE has a whole host of functionality over the sharp rom and yet it is somewhat compatible with many apps designed for the sharp rom. The first version was leaps and bounds more eye candy than the original sharp roms, but I believe the gap between the two is narrower these days.

What if you consider PIM functionality important? Some of us still do, you know

I can tell you some kind of teaser - sash is working on a setrup, where you could install Sharp ROM Qtopia on top of pdaxrom (like a usual IPK). No promises yet, but if it works - the possibilities are huge.

Do you know in which store (RAM, CF, SD) the different parts would be in such a setup?

Don\'t know the details yet, but I can say that destination media is the last problem in such a setup. If it works in internal flash, it will work on SD and CF card (though it will most likey have to be ext2 formatted)

All right. Thank you for your answer.
