Title: OZ 3.3.6pre1 on 5600, FBVNCserver install prob
Post by: wavz on April 16, 2004, 11:21:06 am
I freed up space in root and cleaned out the old Sharp files from home and specified home to be used as an install point in the packages app.  I installed FBVNCserver using \"ipkg install -d home --force-depends fbvncserver-sl5600_0.9.4_arm.ipk\" and the installation seems to have went fine and installed to /home but no application icons have shown up in order to lauch the app.  I\'ve rebooted and still nothing.

fbvncserver-sl5600 shows up in the package list by doing a \"ipkg list\" but it does not show up when running the Packages app.  Furthermore, if I try to do a \"ipkg remove fbvncserver-sl5600\" it states that the package is not installed, even though \"ipkg list\" shows it.

Any suggestions?

I decided to restart from scratch by reinstalling the OZ 3.3.6pre1 ROM.  I went through the initial steps of freeing up room in root this time by moving /opt to /home, making the change in fstab and umounting /home and mounting /opt.  I have plenty of room in /root now to install fbvncserver.  I\'ve installed the compatibility libraries, then performed an installation of tabmanager followed by \"makecompat tabmanager\" on the binary, now tabmanager works.  After performing \"ipkg --force-depends install fbvncserver-sl5600_.0.9.4_arm.ipk\" the install seems to go fine as I now have my icons for VNC Server Launch and VNC Server Default.  Now what I am running into is whenever I tap on VNC Server Lauch it states that it cannot find the application \"fbvnclaunch\".  The installation of vnc* shows to be in /usr/local/bin, I also ran \"makecompat fbvnclaunch\" so it also shows up in /etc/QtPalmtop.compat/bin.  Do I need to sym link the app from /usr/bin to /usr/local/bin?  Sorry for the newb question, just trying to break free of the Sharp ROM.
