Title: Latest Ångström Nightly Builds For Zaurus Available
Post by: Varti on October 17, 2016, 07:43:18 am
Hi,

just a reminder that all SL models of Zaurus are still supported by Ångström! The latest nightly builds can be found, for some models they even have been released today: http://dominion.thruhere.net/angstrom/nightlies/ (http://dominion.thruhere.net/angstrom/nightlies/)

Here are all the supported models, the date indicates the compilation time:

Spitz (SL-C3000) - 15.09.2016
http://dominion.thruhere.net/angstrom/nigh...v2016.06/spitz/ (http://dominion.thruhere.net/angstrom/nightlies/v2016.06/spitz/)

Akita (SL-C1000) - 16.10.2016
http://dominion.thruhere.net/angstrom/nigh...v2016.06/akita/ (http://dominion.thruhere.net/angstrom/nightlies/v2016.06/akita/)

Tosa (SL-6000) - 15.09.2016
http://dominion.thruhere.net/angstrom/nigh.../v2016.06/tosa/ (http://dominion.thruhere.net/angstrom/nightlies/v2016.06/tosa/)

C7x0 - 17.10.2016
http://dominion.thruhere.net/angstrom/nigh.../v2016.06/c7x0/ (http://dominion.thruhere.net/angstrom/nightlies/v2016.06/c7x0/)

Poodle (SL-5600) - 15.09.2016
http://dominion.thruhere.net/angstrom/nigh...2016.06/poodle/ (http://dominion.thruhere.net/angstrom/nightlies/v2016.06/poodle/)

Collie (SL-5500) - 17.10.2016
http://dominion.thruhere.net/angstrom/nigh...2016.06/collie/ (http://dominion.thruhere.net/angstrom/nightlies/v2016.06/collie/)

So Arch Linux ARM isn't the only actively developed distro nowadays  Is anybody running it?

These look like automated builds using OE/Yocto. Someone needs to do some testing, eg. does the kernel provided boot properly ? Where is the documentation ? Does it actually work ?

No idea really, and no idea if anyone is testing them on any of the supported device. If I'll find time to give it a go, I'll give a feedback here and on #angstrom.

The guys on #angstrom have just confirmed me that there's no-one testing the Zaurus builds anymore, the last tester went on to other things more than 5 years ago. They are now searching for new testers, could anybody help them?

I tested the c7x0 (base 20.10.2016) build on my c760 and it booted fine. Now I'm going to test wireless and fix key mappings. So far it looks good.

dmarschal,

Great, c760 still alive ! This is good news. What kernel version did you boot ? This kernel may allow you run Arch if you like , too.
What kexecboot did you use if any ?
But also I am interested how the OE build performs and if there are any issues.

Cheers!

Sorry I don't know what version kexecboot was. Debug info was not added - as the error message said. It was something old. Newer versions detected only the 1st partition on a CF card.

Angstrom kernel was
Linux c7x0 4.4.7-handheld #1 PREEMPT [date] armv5tel GNU/Linux

I will try to use that kernel with Arch Linux and report back.
