This update is just an IPK. It\'s not full ROM update. It should be installed on top of 1.21 ROM.

Anyone else getting an error when trying to backup with Sharp Backup/restore app? I\'m pretty sure backup worked with 1.21 before I installed the hotfix.

I keep getting a device full error, even though I\'ve got 13 gigs free on my PC. In looking at the Sys info app, I see that there are 2 tmp storage areas, one on /dev with 44k total - only 18 k available and /dev/shm with 10meg total - 8.9meg available. I\'m wondering if the backup app is using the temp to store the file list but only sees the smaller /dev space and runs out of space.

Hello,

yesterday I tested the new Cacko Qtopia ROM (incl. hotfix) on my SL-C750. Everything is looking great, but two points are left:

- when I want to make a connection with my CF card modem (Billionton) a message came up: \"CF card serial device is busy\". I found (with lsmod), that the module \"serial_cs\" was started. This is not the case in the older ROM-version (which I reflashed after the testing session). Any idea to bring that modem to work?

- (a more \"silly\" item, I know) the week in \"calendar\" starts with sunday (and not monday). Any chance to configure that?

Greetings,
Frank

Try another serial_cs module, which is available in the downloads section of this site.

Just got my C860  - wow what a machine it\'s leagues ahead of anything else I can find on the market - was considering the UX-50 - glad I didn\'t  - the screen on the is device is amazing.

Anyway - took the plunge and upgraded the rom the Cacko 1.2.1 - what a great update - you would get nothing like this from any other non- linux platform... - Thank you very much Maslovsky

Now I\'m trying to install the hotfix and I get the following msg from the GUI package installer:
\'ipkg says something went wrong. sorry.\'

now after doing some digging I tried installing from the command line by typing:
\'ipkg install cacko-qtopia-rom-hotfix_arm.ipk\'
I select \'y\' \'the following package were previoiusly requested but have not been installed - Install them now?\'
it then says:
error
filename - __.ipk
Downloading /__.ipk ...
/__.ipk:invalid host name.
ipkg_download:ERRO:Failed to retrieve /__.ipk, returning
ipkg_get_install:Perhgaps you need to run ipkg update?
I try and run \'ipkg update\'
then try and repeat the above process but to no avail.

I also have this problem with any other package - can anyone shed any light on the issue.
Oh just to add I have tried reboot several times.

A previus ipk didn\'t install properly. Install from the command line again, but select N. And/or find the status file which contains all the ipks that have been installed and delete reference to the failed ipk. I don\'t have my Z with me right now, so I can\'t point you to where it is located.

Thanks for the reply. I have not managed to install anything since I installed Cacko 1.2.1 so there is nothing installed. I did try the above but I am still unable to install anything
here is a cut and paste of what is currently happening

# ipkg status
# ipkg install cacko-qtopia-rom-hotfix_arm
ipkg_depends: ERROR: Package name cacko-qtopia-rom-hotfix_arm contains illegal characters (should be [a-zA-Z0-9.+-])
filename - __.ipk

Downloading /__.ipk ...
/__.ipk: Invalid host name.
ipkg_download: ERROR: Failed to retrieve /__.ipk, returning
ipkg_get_install: Perhaps you need to run `ipkg update\'?

# ipkg status
Package: error
Status: install ok not-installed

Then I do the following:

# ipkg remove error
ipkg_remove: Package error does not appear to be installed in /
Purging mention of error from ipkg database

So then I renamed the IPK file from \'cacko-qtopia-rom-hotfix_arm.ipk\' to
\'cacko-qtopia-rom-hotfix-arm.ipk\'

then do the following:

# ipkg install cacko-qtopia-rom-hotfix-arm
filename - __.ipk

Downloading /__.ipk ...
/__.ipk: Invalid host name.
ipkg_download: ERROR: Failed to retrieve /__.ipk, returning
ipkg_get_install: Perhaps you need to run `ipkg update\'?

I\'m stuck please help.......

Hmm, the file should have the .ipk extension. The file name should be cacko-qtopia-rom-hotfix_1.21a_arm.ipk Try downloading again, make sure the file is complete and has the ipk extension. You can go to the file /home/root/usr/lib/ipkg/status and delete the reference to the miss-named ipk. That should do the trick.
Good luck,
Jerry

I installed the patch ip linked to and ipkg returned the descriptive \"somthing went wrong, sorry\" error, so I exited and went to install via the console.  well qkonsole wouldent start so I reset my device (c860) an dit wont boot.  any idea what went wrong?  I\'m going to try and reflash to fix it.

Gester.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

I\'m very sure that I tried to download the file and try it at least twice but I tried it again and this time it has worked!

I checked the status file with VI and it appear to be empty....

Now that the hotfix is installed I seem to be able to install other ipk\'s as well - thanks very much you have made my day.

I will try and think a bit harder next time.

you need to edit the ipkg-status file...
there will be an ipk at the end that will cause the \"__\" symptom.
all is not lost -- when you remove that broken entry -- ipkg will work again.
I\'d be more specific, but my Z is not in front of me now.

I just upgraded to the latest Cacko Rom 1.21 Hotfix A.

Prior to that I was using a LinkSys WCF12 WiFi card and my CF2031 Sprint PC modem.  Both of them were working fine on my new C860 from Dynamism.

After the upgrade, I setup my network settings and it seems the WCF12 isn\'t even recognized.  It just sits their with the light on the Card on, but the Connect option on the Network application is always disabled, even when selecting the Connection to use.

With respect to my CF2031 Sprint Card, that worked fine also ad a Dial-up PPP.  Now however when I connect with it I just get a message dialog with \"CF card type seiral device is busy.\" in it.  Another difference is on this new Network application it forces me to put in my username and password.  In the old application it allowed me to use the user/pw programmed into the CF2031 card itself.

Any help before I have to move back to the Dynamism flash would be appreciated.

I sure like everything about this Cacko but it\'s a requirement for me to have my Wifi and Cell Modem working.

I\'m a Linux newbie, so please go easy on me.

Thanks,

Kevin

Your card works just fine on Cacko Rom. please, search forums on how to change configuration to make your card recognised.

Same for your Sprint Card - do a search on how to get rid of \"device busy\" message. This was discussed before.
