Title: Anybody Know How To Spoof An Sd Cards Unique Id
Post by: HoloVector on March 24, 2017, 12:14:49 am
Found a Sharp website where they are offering Picsel Browser for Zaurus for sale on a 256mb SD card

https://store.sharp.co.jp/html/SLP/picsel/ (https://store.sharp.co.jp/html/SLP/picsel/)

Google Translate did an excellent job translating it.  Speculatrix and Jon_J, we have our answer on why it will only work on the SD card that it is shipped on......

"This software is designed to operate only with the SD memory card that was shipped at the time of shipment using the unique ID of each SD memory card. (Although it is possible to back up to other media, it does not work.)"

So who knows to spoof an SD cards id?  I have a Panasonic 512MB that we can use for testing.

I wonder if they still have a remaining stock of those SD cards, or if they just forgot to take off the page... Anyway, since Picsel is now quite an old software, I believe it would make more sense to try to ask for a freeware, unlocked version of it or, even better, to release its source code, also since the company behind it is no longer around. I have found the personal webpage of Dougal Kennedy, who was the responsible of the team developing Picsel Browser, we might try to get in touch with him:

I tried what I think is the buy it now link but it doesn't seem to work.  It just reloads the page.

Picsel the company may be gone but all the source code and IP was bought by Artifex and has been rebranded as SmartOfiice which is selling on the Google and Apple app stores.  So really don't think they will help me transfer my Picsel Browser software to a larger card.
