What accessories do you think you'll use most often with your Gemini?
For me, I'll be using my smartwatch (Huawei W1) and bluetooth headset (LG Tone "collar style") so I can keep a discreet eye on notifications and make and receive calls when the G is in my pocket,
Mike Halsey posted about using a bluetooth dialler/handset: https://geminiplanet.com/2018/01/17/using-t...etooth-handset/ (https://geminiplanet.com/2018/01/17/using-the-gemini-with-a-bluetooth-handset/)
I think that idea is good if you've got an oversized phone. Certainly, when I had an Xperia Z Ultra, a huge 6.4" tablet, a bluetooth headset was less conspicuous!

I hope to get a nice smartwatch to go with the G. i would be interested in hearing other users experiences with them when the G arrives and we can play with these things

Anyone have any idea if the gemini will work with other usbc to hdmi or with other usbc hubs such as the one below?

I am pretty sure the G will work with generic USB hubs, you can probably get one which is a hub with full sized A connectors, a C for chaining, a memory card reader and an ethernet port.
However, the G doesn't have standard secondary mode on the USB C port offering video, so you have to use their proprietary cable.
-
As CES, Planet said that the video cable would be on sale by itself at some point, at the moment you have to buy a connectivity pack.
I asked on Indiegogo when that might be and unfortunately they only referred me to the connectivity pack.
If someone, for some reason, has bought one or more connectivity packs and will have a spare video cable, I'd be very interested in buying it. Thanks!

I think the old Sony Z Ultra may be close in terms of dimensions to the Gemini. Therefore this pouch for the Z Ultra may fit;

I have a Sony Xperia Z Ultra, and it's really really thin (6.5mm), so it might not fit

I still have a custom Pdair case for my Zaurus SL-C1000 which is still in good shape after 10 years. I’d recommend their leather cases, they are a bit expensive but well worth it.

A good case for travelling when you also need some accessories with your Gemini. Designed for an Anker charger but fits the Gemini

DFV mobile is selling a support for a bicycle handlebar for the Gemini... I wonder how would you manage to keep your Gemini open on that support...

Given the 3-4 week delivery estimate by AmazonUK, I bought an AirGlass Protector directly from its German manufacturer's website: http://www.protectionfilms24.com (http://www.protectionfilms24.com)
They say 'free shipping'. Total cost delivered to USA = $8.53.
BTW, a screen protector for my Samsung phone cost $50.
Such a deal!

Someone pointed me to this USB-C hub:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222866377720 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222866377720)
It's got gigabit ethernet, two USB ports and memory card slots. Available in silver or grey.
[img]https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/R0YAAOSwEoxam81H/s-l1600.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /]
Many of the hubs with USB-C connectors have HDMI out which is useless to us, and are relatively expensive.
UK buyers can get 1% cashback on ebay if you go via Topcashback (my referral code is https://www.topcashback.co.uk/ref/speculatrix (https://www.topcashback.co.uk/ref/speculatrix) which can get you a £5 Tesco voucher).
-
That hub arrived today, I ordered the grey one and it's a nice looking bit of kit. I plugged it into my LG V20 and it recognised the USB hub (I was able to connect a keyboard) and the network (came up as eth0), so that's rather good, I didn't get to test the memory card reader.
I'm very pleased with it for the price, BUT, one downside, there's no indicator LEDs on the network socket, so you can't tell if you have a link or network activity just by looking.
Also, as someone pointed out on the Facebook page, there's no USB-C power input so you can't charge the G whilst using this; I suspect to get that you'll also end up with the useless HDMI feature too.
-
Is there a recommended lamp to light up the keyboard without blending?
Thanks in advance for some hints!

I'm sorry to hear that, I believe that the vendor didn't have a Gemini to test it, so they made an (inaccurate) estimate of the screen size. I see that there's already a review on that item describing the problem (I guess it's yours, Pdajah), I'll put this info on the accessories (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34912) thread too. The same vendor also sells a different type of protector for the Gemini, the upscreen one, which I fear might have the same size issue too.

Correct. Hopefully will stop Gemini owners from wasting money. Sadly that particular vendor of screen protectors is not very helpful from past experience.

It's also not glass, as I had expected (given the name - "airglass"). It's a piece of plastic. Oh well.

Another screen protector. Best so far for size but just too wide. Just about fits inside the top and bottom bezels.

Have had good success with them over the years back to the heyday of PDA's and HPC's.

All the reviews on Amazon UK and eBay UK for screen protectors seems to indicate that for us Europeans we don't have access to screen protectors which fit correctly!
-
This screen protector does fit but tolerances are very small. It is the same size the screen protector as shipped on the Gemini.

The Psion 5mx has small rubber feet to hold it in place better when typing etc with the device on a surface.
The Gemini doesn't, but I got these from Amazon UK and they work fine.
Stuck one near each corner and still have over 40 left!
Not as "sticky" as I'd like but with use hopefully that will come (and I filed them a bit to help roughen them up).
See the photo.

Hello Yev,
how do your rubber feet affect the Geminis ability to stand on it's hinge?
Is it stable enough to keep using the touchscreen, or will the Gemini tilt over when tapping the touchscreen?
I'd have thought the hinge would need to be rubberized for it to stand stably.

Hello folks,
well, I am also on the search for accessories.
I've ordered an airglass screen protector, and while the quality is very good, it's too "high" as others have already noted here and on Amazon. It stands away from the screen at the top of the screen and it even cracked (yes, it's really glass !!!) when the device snapped closed. I have contacted the manufacturer awaiting a reply. If there is not positive reply, I will try to return the article.
In the meantime this is my attempt at protecting my Gemini when on the move:
Not perfect. Fits _tightly_ . Too thick. But it already protected my Gemini from damage, when I dropped it due to the bulkiness of the case....
You could easily fit two Geminis in there, so lots of space for accessories or a slim wallet. Not necessarily room for the charger, but at least enough room for a charging cable and some adapters.

@DrW, no problem. The 4 feet are the same height, and spread out evenly near the 4 corners it's very stable.
When I tap the touchscreen there are no issues, it works fine. Mind you I don't tap very hard, and my screen's hinge wobbles a bit anyway on tapping, even before I put on the feet!

Bought the AirGlass Brotect Screen Protector by Bedifol GmbH. It does not fit perfectly.
So, I mailed them the screen protector removed from my Gemini for their review and whatever.
Maybe they will use it to fine-tune their tooling and re-offer the Brotect as guaranteed-to-fit the Gemini. Maybe not.
BTW, they then refunded my $8.23 purchase.

the usb hub I previously mentioned worked fine with my G running android, ethernet interface worked straight away, got a dhcp lease immediately.
the hub worked but the ethernet didn't when I booted Gemian

I just changed job and my new employer has a fancy 3D printer. If anyone has a design for covers for the Gemini please let me know.
If anyone has design skills and wants to design covers, I will print off two sets and send you a set for free.
The design must be made freely available on one of the popular repositories for others to use.

I'd be extremely interested if you could publish the models in a 3D printing compatible format, such as STL, Collada, OBJ, X3D, etc...
Of course, that is contingent on whether you can get hi-rez scans or the original design details.

Here's a tip:
I've found my Gemini to be a little bit slippy-slidey on some smooth table surfaces, notably the tables on CrossCountry and East Coast Main Line trains (especially when they're running at speed).
So I ordered these self-adhesive gel feet (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B010M633P0/) from Amazon. (£2.35 for 60 of them.) They're absolutely perfect: they stick to the Gemini shell reasonably tightly but no so much as to be impossible to remove without damaging the case, and they're sufficiently low profile that the Gemini still fits inside the Planet Computers leather wallet case with four of them attached — they add barely anything to its dimensions.
Recommended!

thanks Charlie, those look useful.
they're 4mm thick. how does that affect the hinge, does it sit on a desk nicely or get more wobbly because he screen is higher?

I've got two at the rear about 5mm ahead of the hinge. When the Gemini is open and the screen fully back, the hinge props up the screen: but if I push down the hinge-end of the keyboard a little, the screen tilts up a few degrees and the rear feet take its weight quite nicely while I'm typing. Either way, the front feet are in contact with my desk and stop it sliding around.

Here's what I'm using as a case right now: Southern Seas 4x Grey Soft Touch Microfibre Pouch Glasses Sunglasses Spectacles Protection Bag (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01N0AHOS0/). Drawstring padded microfiber bag: costs £5.49 for four of the things on Amazon.co.uk, including delivery. It weighs next to nothing, and is exactly the right size for a Gemini.
(I'd prefer black, but the product photos of black microfiber cases on Amazon are, ahem, impossible to make out. So I picked one I could at least visualize, and found it works really well.)

I am using an old case that I used for my Casio Business Navigator (http://casio.ledudu.com/pockets.asp?lg=eng&type=774) back in the day. It fits like a glove and has room for a pen and some business cards. I like it a lot.
Mine is from the German brand Dicota, custom made for Casio, but there are others like it for nearly noting on Ebay (often with an organizer included )
Here's how it looks like:

This looks just like what I've been wanting for my Gemini, a case that contains and protects it but once opened allows the Gemini to be opened and used without removing it from the case. The problem: How do we go about getting one in the U.K?

Assuming they are all the same, it doesn't (I do NOT speak, or read, any Japanese, so I don't really know what the page says, but at least on a few of the pictures you can see that it has a "solid" back...). But it should be possible to cut it out yourself, but then we are closing in on "you could make the hole case yourself...".
