This is a list of all the issues that have been reported by the backers and that I have been able to find so far. Please note that it is not implied that all of these issues are found in all the units shipped so far. I’ll update the list with any official statement from Planet about them, when they’ll be available. If you have found any problem which is not listed here, please report it by replying here. Unless stated otherwise, all these reported issues has been found on the Gemini Planet Facebook fan page and on Indiegogo. I was thinking to add the total number of reports for each issue, but since they are often reported on both sites, it is difficult to understand if they are reported from the same person or not.
Hardware issues
- can't see the screen in landscape mode with polarized sunglasses: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?s=&...st&p=286640 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=34797&view=findpost&p=286640)
- the hinge's edge is very sharp and you can easily get hurt on your fingers when closing the lid: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34975 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34975)
- screen has no fixed position when opened, screen bounces up and down while typing
- underside lacks any rubber feet to keep the device stable when placed on a surface: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34989 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34989)
- hinge popping off, also when putting it back on: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?s=&...st&p=286245 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=34989&view=findpost&p=286245)
- unable to attach to the network in Japan (only one report)
- non-functional USB ports
- different keyboard layout received from the one selected (send feedback to Planet via email!)
- cannot charge using an USB Power Delivery compatible charger (this might be correct since apparently only Pump Express+ is supported, USB Power Delivery requires Pump Express 3.0)
- compass not working (confirmed by Planet: disabled in the firmware because of interference with the magnets used to keep the unit closed)
- some screws around the battery are missing
- included charger gets uncomfortably hot
- cannot fast-charge the unit if the charger is connected via the USB hub, only normal charging seems to work this way
- screen protector not applied uniformly on the screen, some dust found under it (it can be safely removed anyway)
- bad voice quality during a call with speakerphone mode on
- signal drops to 3G very frequently, even though 4G coverage is available, maybe be due to metal body blocking reception? https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34830 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34830)
- film covering over phone is stuck to the body, so when you unwrap it, there is some glue residue on the phone: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34830 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34830)
- rubberized strip on the folding stand starts to distort and detach after some days of device use (Kevin Reilly on the Gemini Planet FB page)
- the ESC key, once detached, cannot be firmly re-attached anymore (when the Gemini is turned upside down, the key falls down - Kevin Reilly on the Gemini Planet FB page)
- keyboard ghosting, i.e. when 3 keys are pressed at the same time, a 4th one will be registered too. Happens in both Android and Linux, so it must be a hardware problem: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=35014 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=35014)
- weak WiFi/Bluetooth range: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=35030 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=35030)
- Onboard speakers are mono instead of stereo: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=35037 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=35037)
- buzzing/scratching noises can be heard when using wired headphones. A temporary solution is to use a noise generator app with the volume set to 0: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34880 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34880)
Hardware issues limited to the first batch (produced in January 2018)
- some keys are tilted, unstable or not working; a replacement keyboard mat which fixes this can be requested to Planet
- on some keys, the sticker placement is off (Joe FitzGerald on the Gemini Planet FB page)
- some of the printing on the sides are skewed: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34834 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34834)
- wrong CPU installed (Helio x25 instead of x27), confirmed by Planet
- missing eSIM support: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=35008 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=35008)
Software issues - Android
- full-device encryption not supported: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=35065 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=35065)
- emoticon and symbol shortcuts (FN + key) bring up the virtual keyboard, when closed some apps stay resized to the size with the soft keyboard: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=35060 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=35060)
- wrong serial number (0123456789ABCDEF) stored in the firmware: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34804 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34804)
- not possible to access some icons and to scroll down in K9 in landscape mode
- during a call with speakerphone mode on, the device crashes when the screen times out, depending on the set timeout. No issues with a headset
- sometimes, a wrong keyboard layout is used for the chars on the numeric row, maybe there are two layouts active and conflicting with each other: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?s=&...st&p=284752 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=34749&view=findpost&p=284752)
- the supposed anyside-up answering ability doesn’t work, only one speaker functions for calls, while both microphones seem to work: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34830 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34830)
- during the initial setup, the keyboard mapping is UK, even though the model is a different one, so it's difficult to type in the password if it contains a character which is in a different position on the keyboard. You can only fix that one you complete setup: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34830 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34830)
- on the US Layout, the Fn combinations randomly stop working at times, and it is not possible to type apostrophes or quotes anymore, the layouts have to be toggled before they start working again (Tim Nevits on the Gemini Planet FB page)
- the keyboard selection in the Planet Keyboard app isn't stored, the only way to set a layout is using the Android configuration: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?s=&...st&p=284884 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=34830&view=findpost&p=284884)
- when making VoLTE calls the Gemini has rebooted in the middle of the call (Richard Grimwood on the Gemini Planet FB page and https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34896 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34896))
- when backspace is pressed, all the next pressed keys are ignored until the cursor is moved away and back again: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34834 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34834)
- When using the Notes application, there's a huge chunk of the screen missing: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34875 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34875)
- Bluetooth controls stop working when the Gemini is closed: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34847 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34847)
- PgUp/PgDn (Fn + Up / Fn + Down), Home and End do not appear to be functional in most of the apps: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34977 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34977)
- It is not possible to configure Google Assistant to be isolated to either the side button OR headphone remote button OR Fn+G shortcut: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?s=&...st&p=285869 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=34974&view=findpost&p=285869)
- Microsoft Word, Excel & Powerpoint can't be launched anymore; if you have created a new profile under Android, you need to uninstall the Office apps and reinstall them under the new profile: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?s=&...st&p=285856 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=34958&view=findpost&p=285856)
- Cannot use a different DNS that Google's own: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34994 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34994)
- Sometimes, when doing alt-tab, caps lock comes on, also holding shift and typing () quickly actually types ( C ) (without spaces): https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=35000 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=35000)
- During calls, the speakers sometimes stop playing audio and switch to some kind of distorted dialup internet connection-esque sound for like 30+ seconds at a time: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?s=&...st&p=286016 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=34985&view=findpost&p=286016)

I have fully function left USB port (charge+data) right port does not work at all.
Agenda app does not work at all.
Can't remove Google search bar.
Screen rotate does not work so some software wont work e.g. Virgin TV Go does not show option to enter username/password in landscape mode.
I have the MT6797T (X25) CPU if thats relevant, its about 5% slower than X27 on some specs.
-
Ok CPU helio X25 confirmed on facebook by one of the backers message contains:
"Hi David, We have investigated the issue of the processor model and we can now confirm that the current production units are powered by the X25 chip, not X27. We have alerted the factory as they have told us they would be using X27 processor instead of the X25 that was in our original specification, due to the availability of the X25 chips and similarity of the specifications.
We are awaiting a full response from the factory on this issue and we will keep you updated. Regards, Robin!"

I read one early adopter had issues with freeze on rotating device maybe due to apps.
A few complaints about the box (not content) being damaged "looked like Hermes had used box as a Football!".
I was surprised Planet used Hermes, hope it wasn't just to save a few quid. DPD BEST in UK imo.
Ps
I hope folk reading this thread aren't put off this fantastic device.
Obviously 'teething problems' (except processor) almost certainly isolated issues.
Don't forget, Dr David Potter, he is been there he has done all this, that guy is on our side! He will sort it.

Agenda app does not work at all.
The Agenda app seems to be not ready yet, it will be available at a later stage: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?s=&...st&p=284568 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=34795&view=findpost&p=284568)
Can't remove Google search bar.
There are some hints on how to remove it here: https://www.androidpit.com/how-to-remove-th...roid-homescreen (https://www.androidpit.com/how-to-remove-the-google-search-bar-from-your-android-homescreen)
In alternative, it has been suggested to install Nova Launcher to remove it, the Gemini Planet's admin has successfully removed the bar with that app.
Screen rotate does not work so some software wont work e.g. Virgin TV Go does not show option to enter username/password in landscape mode.
That's a problem I also have on some apps/games on my Ideapad A10, some programs just aren't designed to be run in landscape mode. You might try one of the apps which force the landscape view, e.g. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...rotationcontrol (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.crape.rotationcontrol)

Thanks Varti, Following up on your suggestions.
Virgin TV Go app rotates on my Galaxy Note 4 so it should not be an app problem.
-
With the search bar.
I jumped ship last October from 10 years with iPhone.
My daily driver is the dual SIM androidOne Xiaomi Mi A1, which I am more than happy with.
I was not keen on search bar, I installed 'Microsoft launcher' it's free and very good imo.
Not sure how it will get on with Gemini, but have a feeling all will be good.
-

Yes indeed - very minor point, and certainly not a hardware/software issue, but I for one would be most grateful if Planet would consider using a slightly more reputable/faster courier for UK deliveries. DPD would get my vote too.
-
Seems some have bad keyboards so this also needs to be adressed.
-
As for the rotate problem.
If you press the Planet key, then touch the Planet icon, there's an option to force rotate. Pressing the Planet key will cancel.
-
In case the FB user did not post his problem here, seems one of the backers is having compass issue...
-

Thanks that worked for me with Virgin TV Go app. Can return to landscape by pressing Planet key & not selecting an option'

@Varti if you can edit your main post add compass, and someone on indiegogo mentioned missing screws and charger getting uncomfortably hot ...

I'm afraid it looks like I'm another one whith a non-functional right-hand USB port. My Behringer D/A doobrey for the guitar isn't working plus it won't charge from that socket (thoughTBH I'm not sure if it should). Like someone else said, probably just teething troubles that Planet will get sorted; it's still a fab device.

Thunderbird issue
Despite Thunderbird being a pre-selected app on the Gemini launcher, it seems to perform poorly in landscape mode, but fine if I force rotation to portrait. The options that normally appear at the bottom of the page are not accessible in landscape mode. it is not possible to scroll down. Anyone else noticed this? Anyone got a fix?
The 2 images show the difference. Note the extra option features in the portrait mode.

Order 5xx reporting from the UK. I'm almost completely delighted with my device, but have the keyboard issue.
There's a lot of play in the keys. Looking at it, they appear to be uneven. When you place your fingertips on the keys you can rock them from side to side. The enter key has got stuck a few times when I pressed it on the 'enter' print. I could forgive wobbly keys, but not sticking.
Another cosmetic issue is that the fn key print is out of alignment. I can live with that.
I sent them a mail on Friday evening. I know they're busy, so I don't expect an immediate reply.

Hi
The screenshots are of K9, not Thunderbird.
I've used K9 in both Portrait and Landscape on my phone for ages now - everything is there, but in a different place.
The grey options bar items that you mention as being at the bottom in Portrait mode can be found on the RHS of the top grey bar in Landscape mode.
-
Oops, of course its K9! I use both and had a senior moment😀.
I appreciate your reply and I know that some buttons appear as you say, but the reply and new email icons are missing in landscape making it hard to use.
Other thoughts appreciated.
Cheers

Someone seems to have found a solution for the tilted keys, using a string made of sponge:

I've double checked on my SGS5mini (with a much smaller screen & resolution) and find that with an email "open" I find the similar to what you describe with Portrait vs Landscape except that I also get the "double arrow" (Reply/Reply all/Forward/Share) showing in Landscape BUT when displaying a folder (say Inbox) my SGS5mini shows the same grey bar "icons" in Portrait and Landscape. I think though anything missing in the grey bar in P or L mode will appear as an option if the "button" with 3 vertical dots is selected - e.g. use "Compose" in the "3 dot menu" as opposed to the envelope with + sign in the grey bar.
-
seems one of the backers is having compass issue...
I was wondering if that might be a problem considering the thing is stuffed with magnets for the keyboard and possibly some in the clasp as well.
-
My escape key is at an angle - works fine, more of an aesthetic issue.
Some spots of dust under the screen protector, but as it's safe to remove the screen protector (according to PC it was mainly for protection during shipping) I'm not too worried.
Apart from those things, it's working fine.

Thanks for all the reports, post now updated.

Hi all,
Thus far the biggest software/hardware issue I've encountered is that if
you're on a call with speakerphone mode and the screen times out, the
Gemini crashes and reboots.
I had the timeout set to 2 minutes and it's happened a couple times. I
changed the timeout to 30 seconds and it crashed at that timeout again.
If I keep the GUI active to prevent timeout, I was able to keep a call running
for 15 minutes. If I'm using the phone just as a headset and the
screen times out, no crash.
Is this a hardware issue or (more likely?) an android bug? Can anyone
recreate?
Thanks,
PJS

Never heard about this issue before. Might be that another, call related setting is getting in the way when the timeout is reached. A serious issue anyway, added it in the list, thanks for reporting it.

I've had a reply from the lovely people at Planet about this. Apparently the device (a Behringer UCG102 to be precise) is "..not compatible with Android OS". Surprising news to me as I used to use it on my HTC M8 with Depmod (even back from when it was calling itself Andrig) under the stock ROM, Cyanogenmod and then LineageOS when Cyanogen collapsed. Hopefully I'll be able to get to the bottom of what's going on with it but I'll have to leave testing the socket until I'm back in the office next week (I've long since thrown out all my USB meeces and keyboards).
A little disappointed that Planet followed up their email saying that Android isn't listed under the device on Amazon. It felt a little as though I was being thought of as dishonest. Not quite the customer service experience I was hoping for. I'll update here as I get more info.
Rosie
P.S. it's still fab BTW. Even paid for a copy of Andropen Office because of it.

I just received my Gemini yesterday and had a few initial comments. (I posted these on the Facebook Page as well)
A few comments
• The 9 Key seems to be off like we have seen on other units (Not really an issue as it seems a bit better with some use)
• On intial startup, the screen was in Asian script: There is a dropdown list on the right to select the language
• Keyboard setup with UK layout even though English US was selected
• Signing into my Google Account was a challenge with the UK keyboard mapping. The "@" symbol is <Fn> + K. If your password has special characters, which are not mapped the same as the UK keyboard, that will be a challenge too. Take a look at the keyboard layouts to see where it is on the UK layout.
• Once setup, you may use the following steps to change Keyboard to US layout
o Swipe down from the top and click the gear icon on the top right
o Scroll down and select "Languages & input" under the "Personal" group
o Select "Physical keyboard"
o Select "Gemini Keyboard - English (US)"
o Select "English (US)" "Gemini keyboard"
o ISSUE: There seems to be an endless loop between these two screens. I hit the home button to exit and the layout was US. I checked it by typing a new note, in the Note application, to include the "@" symbol and it worked.
Overall, I am very excited and pleased to finally receive my unit.

About the sticking keys problem, I have only now noticed a post from Robin on Indiegogo:
"In terms of the Fn key, a number of backers have solved sticking keys by removing the key (with a flat thin device and sliding it under the key to pop the key off). They are designed to do this. Then checking for silicon flashing from the mat and then putting the key back. Robin"
A photo of a removed key has been published on Facebook, so that you can all see what does the mechanism under the key look like. I'm reposting it here (I cannot find the original poster of the image, sorry):

The Gemini was fine, it was the cheap as chips USB to USB-C adapter I was using. I've plugged in a new USB-C hub and can happily use a wireless keyboard and mouse just by plugin the dongle into the hub. It's really, really strange (in a good way) seeing a mouse point on a phone screen though.

Rotating is corrected by using the Planet key -> Planet icon -> Force rotate
Referring to http://support.planetcom.co.uk/index.php/Troubleshooting (http://support.planetcom.co.uk/index.php/Troubleshooting), it appears that I should not expect the right USB port to act as a data port.
How do you test the right port? What do you plug in? I don't have any USB C compatible devices, except for the Planet Computers supplied USB Hub and HDMI adapter.
I tried the USB hub/network port but there is no visual cue that anything is plugged in and I am a noob at Android so don't know how to tell if things are working or not.
-

Regarding screen rotation... Aside from the AndroidOS settings, you have
to go into the App Bar settings and turn off BOTH "force landscape" and
"force portrait". Then screen rotation works fine (for me).
Good luck,

Ho-hum. And now I've finally had a chance to check the RH USB socket as Planet requested (single device: mouse or keyboard) using a brand new and working USB-C -> USB converter it turns out it doesn't work. Power goes down it (the light on the mouse lights up) but that seems to be about it. Whether it was working before the unfortunate incident with the cider or not is anyone's guess though.

(Android, possibly not Linux or other OS?) PgUp/PgDn (Fn + Up / Fn + Down) do not appear functional. (Original topic: https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34977 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34977)))
Edit: To follow-up, this may just be many apps not supporting PgUp/PgDn, unfortunately

Thanks for the report, I have now updated the first post, and I have moved all the CPU/keyboard issues, which should have been by now hopefully fixed, in a new "first batch devices only" group. BTW I wonder if there are still issues with the detaching rubberized strip in the newer batch, or if they have fixed that too.

Is there an official method to report issues to planet (that will result for example in a proper ticket/reference number)?

Is there an official method to report issues to planet (that will result for example in a proper ticket/reference number)?

Unfortunately no... Planet has asked us to help them by setting a community-driven bug tracking tool (which I think is a good idea, I'd like to make all the issues in this thread to be more easily maintained), but so far I have not managed to take a look on how to implement it.

I also backed a zetime watch. They also use a sort of cummunity-driven bug racking tool. See http://zetime.daap.dk/bugs (http://zetime.daap.dk/bugs)
Maybe this can be used on oesf too ...

Just found another hardware issue:
- You can't view the screen through Polaroid sunglasses. I'm assuming this is because the screen was designed for portrait-style displays; it looks fine in portrait orientation, and at most other angles, but it blacks out completely when horizontal.

Now that's one of the strangest issue I have ever seen
It seems to affect any sunglasses with polarized lenses. A possible solution could be to use a screen protector to cancel the Gemini screen's polarization filter:

Adding to the list
Micro SD cards are not visible when formatted in "internal" mode i.e. encrypted - given the faff in removing card (remove cover etc) it's unlikely anyone will be regulary swapping the card to another device - most use as extended storage on Gemini - so "internal" formatting should work...

this is not a fault, it's because the Gemini has an LCD display and their fundamental principle of operation is by using polarised light!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquid-crystal_display (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquid-crystal_display)
if you have an LCD TV, or a watch with LCD display, you'll get the same effect.
however, it is possible on some LCD displays to remove a polariser and then you have to wear polarised spectables to see the picture on the screen. I'm sure I've seen a spy movie where they used that trick for privacy.

Yes, but the LCD's polarisation has the wrong orientation.
It's clearly intended for a portrait-style phone, as when held that way up it's perfectly compatible with polarised sunglasses (which are all polarised in the same plane, to cancel out reflections off horizontal surfaces). But it fails big-time when used in landscape orientation, as used in the Gemini (as that's when the display's plane of polarisation is perpendicular to that of the sunglasses, almost completely blocking the screen).
Either the factory economised by reusing a screen originally intended for use in portrait orientation, or they didn't realise the problem. Either way, the plane of polarisation is wrong for the orientation it's intended to be used in.

I seem to remember that the screens in the gemini were originally produced for use in HMD / VR? Unless they ended up sourcing them from somewhere else?

Ah, I see what you mean, @gidds
I think the LCD screens are the same 2:1 aspect 1080p screens used in some LG phones.
These days most screens are fully laminated with the polarisers, touch layer and front glass all bonded. Getting custom made ones would have been quite expensive and for the numbers of Geminis being made increased the cost of each quite significantly.
If you want a fully custom perfect Gemini you'd need to invest a lot more upfront than the million that Planet had to play with!

As reported in https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=35216 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=35216), the speakers are not only mono, but phase is also inverted.

Just to report, June delivered Gemini has x25 and no eSim in it. I bought it from the store rather than from Indiegogo so its a bit odd there are still xx25 models being delivered.

Sometimes caps lock turns on by itself when I close the Gemini.
Sometimes when I open the Gemini Google Assistant has launched. The letter z or ^Z is in the search bar
Keys wearing/getting dirty
Bluetooth not turning on at boot and sometimes have to do airplane mode to reset it
Sometimes bluetooth turns off on it's own
Screen is a finger print magnet

What is the situation with the space bar on the latest production batches?
I have a german layout, so my Gemini is from the third batch or so.
Generally, the keyboard is fine, but the top left area of the space bar is rather unresponsive...
-
The rounded corners of the bezel hide a couple of pixels. Not that much noticeable for Android, but letters in the corners can get mutilated for the recovery and Linux.

Yes, this is a bit annoying. Don't know why PC did it this way. Also thought about adding this to the thread...
For debian, putting the task bar to the left helps...

Sometimes when I put my Gemini on charge (using the charger which came with it) it doesn't charge the device - it just gets hot. Only happened since the latest firmware

Hi folks,
It's now been a few months and a couple of updates from PC, so I figured I'd
try the speakerphone crash bug again. Sure enough, as soon as the screen
time-out occurs, my Gemini crashes to reboot while I'm on a speakerphone
call.
Anyone else seen this or not?
I wonder, is there any evidence that Planet Computing is paying any attention
to the reports made on OESF.org or should I repost my report directly to them?
Thanks,
PJS

I second this issue.
Using the speaker phone on calls with my Gem closed, it has rebooted itself / disconnects every call.
Now I talk with the cover open. And that is yet another WTH situation we backers must adapt to.
#GETWOKE Planet
TO YOUR LAST QUESTION: Yes, repost / report it to Planet "hello" support AND CC: it to - robin @ planetcom.co.uk - that is what I do with every WTH observation, question and issue... weekly.

Since uninstalling the app bar app because its clock does not show the same 12-hour am/pm time as the top notification strip, despite all the rights settings, the FORCE LANDSCAPE feature stopped working.
Apps that would open and stay in landscape view open now and stay in portrait view.
Without the app bar, correcting this now SOP occurrence is a big bother.
Ifanafi
Screen rotate does not work so some software wont work e.g. Virgin TV Go does not show option to enter username/password in landscape mode.
Regarding screen rotation... Aside from the AndroidOS settings, you have
to go into the App Bar settings and turn off BOTH "force landscape" and
"force portrait". Then screen rotation works fine (for me).
Good luck,
PJS

Ever since I first removed the top to install sim & memory, I have had a hard time keeping it from falling off. Now it seems to always fall off if not in the case.
Yes, I initially used the special tool and followed all directions for removal and replacement of the lid.
Is there any suggestions, or does anyone know if this can be sent back to Planet for repair?
I am at my wits end with this and it’s been nearly useless since I received it. Any help would be appreciated!!

Battery Failure: I received my Gemini in May 2018, in November 2019 I noticed the battery had swelled and ordered a replacement from Planet Computers. It is now fourteen weeks later and I'm still waiting for my replacement battery. Does anyone know of an alternate supplier?
-
You can measure the dimensions of the battery and then search for it specifying the size. For example (small) battery with dimension 4mm x 20mm x 20 mm will have marking 402020 or 042020. Also you can try to search for specific capacity and then narrow it by dimensions.

If you find a matching battery, probably with higher capacity, please post details here.
-
It is very unlikely to find a higher capacity battery. I mean real capacity. Anyway Gemini contains 3,85V 4220 mAh battery with aproximate dimensions 3mm x 61mm x 135mm. It seems to have a special connector so in case of generic replacement some soldering skills will be needed. I suppose same battery is in Cosmo as well, but I am not opening it yet.
So far I found some 3060130 batteries which would fit in Gemini but 3.7V only (maximum charging voltage 4.2V) while the one in Gemini is rated to 3,85V (4.4V) which gives it higher capacity.
