Title: Gemini keyboard key removal
Post by: FredL on March 13, 2018, 06:54:58 am
PC mentioned on the Indiegogo site comments that the keys are designed to be removed - I think by placing a thin knife under the key and then popping it off.

I have a couple of keys which are tilted and would like to see if I could fix them... also I would like to try to make the space bar more sensitive.

Has anyone tried removing keys?

An useful hint from the hint 'n tips thread:

"make sure to lift the keys from the upper (screen-facing) side. Otherwise, the tiny overhang that prevents the keys from falling out can be teared off"

https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34768 (https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=34768)

An user has reported a broken key after he has taken it off, he probably broke the overhang under it and now it won't stay in place anymore, so use great caution when removing them.

Many thanks. As the keys are largely functioning OK I might hold off removing them for now, just to avoid the risk of broken keys.

I followed Robin's advice and lifted up one of the wobbly keys. Now I have a broken ctrl key. I advise caution!

My solution to a sticking enter key and other wobbly keys is to take a very small sliver of washing up sponge and push between and under under the keys. You don't need to remove the keys to do this.

Good suggestion regarding a small sliver of sponge - I'll try this with the Escape key...
