Title: [Solved]Google Authenticator can not find camera
Post by: Lyall Pearce on March 24, 2018, 11:27:34 pm
Google authenticator version 5.00 on Google store, does not appear to find the camera.
So, I could not scan the Q-Code to register my home linux login.
The App has camera permissions.
Any suggestions?

Google Authenticator only works with camera's on the back.
Since we only have a front-facing camera, you cannot use GA to scan QR-codes.
So the app will only be able to scan with the back camera add-on attached.

I have found a post on XDA on how to set the front camera as a rear one, by editing the /etc/nvcamera.conf file, I don’t know if this could work on the Gemini though:

I know this issue has a workaround, but I wanted to provide an alternative solution, just in case it may help someone else.  Depending on your needs, you could use the Microsoft Authenticator instead of Google Authenticator.  The Microsoft Authenticator reads QR codes fine using my Gemini's front camera, with no additional configuration required.
