Hi,
I flashed my Gemini with the root Android firmware, but it doesn't appear to show as rooted when I run any root checker from the Play Store. Is there anything else that need to be done to enable root status?
Thanks.

Make sure you have installed and completed setup of Magisk Manager (https://magiskmanager.com/) which Planet seems to indicate is required part of the rooting process (but not included in the root image since it's a third party tool).
I have that installed and just tried Root Checker, it prompts for permission from Magisk and when granted confirmed that I have root.

I tried installing it, but whenever I run it I just get the face logo displayed and nothing happens. Will try re-installing it.....

Well I reflashed my Gemini with the latest Android firmware and still the same issues:
- root checker does not detect root status
- Magisk Manager hangs on splash screen after install.
The only thing I am wondering is if it has something to do with my 256GB Samsung MicroSD card being used as shared memory?

How exactly are you flashing your Gemini? https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/topjohnwu/mag...-5-7-0-release/ (https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/topjohnwu/magisk-manager/magisk-manager-5-7-0-release/) should work fine, I installed 5.7.0

100% in accordance with the Planet support web page. I then downloaded Magisk Manager (V5.7.0) from the associated web page. Even tried older version of the product.
Should Root Checker Basic report root status - even without Magisk Manager installed?
If I unroot the Gemini by downloading just the unrooted image file, Magisk starts up just fine....

I'm thinking Root Checker would still show root with or without a root manager installed. What happens when you install and load a root app? Does a prompt pop up from Magisk asking to grant/deny root?

No it doesn't, but as Magisk will not launch properly, that is no surprise. I was thinking of trying to root the Gemini with Magisk, but don't want to brick the unit.

I had the same problem, and it was solved by moving the app data to the internal storage (instead of the sdcard). I've decided that using a sdcard as shared memory is a bad idea, at least for the time being.

You mean all apps or just Magisk?

You're not going to brick hardware with root software.
