Title: How to waste time in an Airport with my Z??
Post by: baboan on April 20, 2004, 10:37:02 pm
I do small POS LAN installs on Tues-Wed-Thurs in shops around the country, so my Z is with me for \"Word Game\"  and \"Froot.\"  But I just can\'t help thinking that there is more I could do with my time.  I do need a time clock app. any suggestions?

Nothing new, but IMHO Eligo is excellent for wasting time  It\'s a very nice Lines-kind of game, with sound, music, neat graphics and a very much playable demo.
But for shorter periods of time, I\'d just spend it reorganizing all my PIM data, just for fun...

U mean an app that you can click in when you are \"on-the-clock\" so you can bill your customers?

If your at the airport you might as well surf the net ,check email, chat with friends/gaim. Of course you need a wifi card but those are cheap \"now-a-days\". Some airports give you limited surfing but you can contact tmobile and get net access for their hotspots, plus they have many different rate plans.

Try fooling \'centrino\' computers into attaching to your Z (via WiFi, dhcp or zeroconf) then use smbclient to send winpopup messages to them.

I assume no connection doesn\'t mean you don\'t have a WiFi card though.

I do have a wifi, but don\'t use it much because DFW is the only Airport I\'ve been in that has a free connection.  Which brings me to coolass, do you actually work for tmobile cause that sounds a lot like a commercial... however I\'m not a big fan of 6 bucks an hour to surf.  It\'s just not that important to me.

Doc, I get paid by the hour so right now i\'m just typing in my time to Han. sheet. But was wondering if there was something that was push button.

maybe timesleuth will suit your needs?  I haven\'t really used it much (no need of it) but it can clock time and salarys and stuff.

Oh, I didn\'t mean that, if you run a dhcp server on your Z you may well be able to get people to connect to your Z in ad-hoc mode (depending on their setup), then you can message (and surprise them).
